"Homeland Security" in Iowa by
Jay Honeck
So we took my 26 year old, blonde, blue-eyed, 6' 4" nephew back to the Cedar
Rapids airport last night, to catch his red-eye flight back to Seattle. He
was as sick as a dog (flu?) and weak as a kitten, but go he must, so off he
went...
The "Eastern Iowa Airport" is a pretty sleepy place on a...

It is interesting that "Group Moderator" is obviously trimming
his followups to keep them out of view of the people he has
named. ;-)
Si, I trimmed the list in case someone on it might object to it being
perpetuated, as you suggested.

New Year's Eve / Day TFRs 2003 / 2004 by
Guy Elden Jr.
With the issuance today of a flood of TFRs covering NYC, Las Vegas, and
Southern California, and the resulting response from AOPA's Phil Boyer, I'm
beginning to think that the approach they're taking toward these TFRs is
wrong. Here is what Boyer had to say about the NYC and LV...

Tampon clogs air traffic flow by
R. Hubbell
Nice to know that the air traffic system is so robust.
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/business/2326554
I wonder if it was terrorists? I'm sure Tom Ridge will be sending out RFPs
for Tampon detectors soon. And Dubya will probably label Tampons as WMDs.

In the plane market - some questions before purchase by
Bill
Hello
I am looking at a small airplane for recreational "Sunday afternoon
local area" flying and also for the once-a-month weekend 500 NM trip
to my hometown. I need to carry me, my wife, two kids, plus baggage
for said occupants. I also would like to own and airplane and not
rent. Done that,...

Who Moved The VOR At Savannah? by
S Ramirez
This past couple of days the wife and I went to Columbia, SC. Our IFR
flight path was as follows:
ORL - V267 - CRG - V37 - KELER - SAV - V37 - ALD - V37 -
CAE - KCUB
The IFR flight plan was flown using two VORs with a Garmin 295 GPS as a back
up. As we approached KELER intersection,...

Tent basics // Oshkosh prep by
Mike Z.
awright! I admit this is a bit premature but it has been too poopy to fly lately and a fellas' mind gets to wandering.
We have been gearing up to camp the North 40 for a while.
Last year we even upgraded the tent to a nice stand-up Eureka Headquarters.
Shortly after that, I read Jays' tale of...

Internal Wings - The future of aviation? by
Roger Long
My son is getting an education about the real world. He got a small foam
glider for Christmas with a futuristic looking three piece foam wing.
According to the packaging, the toy company was set up to raise money for
development of this new aircraft design. Neat.
We looked it up...

GPS question by
Ace Pilot
I received a handheld Magellan Meridian Color GPS for Christmas. How
good a GPS is this for aviation purposes? Are there any accessories or
software/database packages that are aviation related and suitable for
use with this GPS unit?
Thanks.
