Russian abandoned aircraft site by
Bob Fry
"This engineering was in a museum Aircraft technicians in Moscow
earlier. But when a museum have closed, engineering have put on a
separate platform open-air and it became nobody necessary."
Nevermind the broken English. Photos of what's apparently a place near
Moscow for abandoned Soviet...

Towplane strut problem by
John Sp
Our gliding club towplane (Piper Super Cub) has developed play in the
Fuselage / Main strut connection - Portside. The bolt and clevis (Fork)
seem to be OK bolt is a reasonably snug fit in the fork. - I presume the
play is in the hole in the Bracket welded to the fuselage. Play seems to
be about...

M Pengelly
Hello,
I've just 'inherited' an old wooden propeller and would like to know if
possible, something about its past. On it are two metal plates. One reads:
DRG NO
DH5220 MR23
GIPSY MAJOY
D6' - 4" P.4' - 6"

Forming finger straps. by
Mike
A finger strap is a reinforcing piece of metal that is used to
reinforce a joint.
The impression I have is the strap is heated until it can be formed,
then wrapped around both the primary and secondary tubing being joined.
For both tubes the strap is formed around them.
Is the strap tacked in...

T-6/SNJ Propeller Diameter by
Orval Fairbairn
I just checked with my neighbor, who owns a nice SNJ and measured the
diameter.
His prop is 108 inches (9 feet) long. He tells me that the prop can be
shortened 20 inches and still be legal, so the correct length for the
T6/SNJ prop is anywhere from 88 inches (7 ft 4 in) to 108 inches (9
feet).
I...

mismatched hole question by
Dick
What would be a way to fix a mismatch in holes in steel without ruining the
temper? Specifically a main gear leg which it bolts up to a plate . Two of
the four holes are about 1/3 diameter off. The bolts are 3/8" od.
Possibilties, as I see it, a elongate existing holes in one part to fit

Need to learn dope and fabric work by
David Hill
I need to learn good old fashioned dope and fabric work, you know, using
butyrate dope and real cotton fabric. I'm building a 1920s replica,
want to make it authentic as possible.
My question -- will the EAA Fabric Covering workshop be useful? Even if
they use "the Poly Fiber covering process?" ...
