Why 000-179 ... and not 001-180?? by
Icebound
Since 000 is not a real direction... (North is 360) ..., is there some
significant history why easterly/westerly cruising altitudes were chosen on
the basis of: 000-179 --- 180-359
as opposed to the more intuitive: 001-180 --- 181-360 ???

SR-22 by
Schmoe
Just went up in an Cirrus SR-22 for the 1st time. A relative is in one of
those fractional/lease deals. It's a very cool airplane in many ways and
easy to fly with the side stick. The all glass cockpit is fantastic but
makes me realize how easy it is to get stuck with your eyes on the inside.

What is happening to the FAA? The new Class B airspace at KPHX drives
another few nails into the GA coffin.
You are an idiot. You don't fly.

Jay Honeck
Mark it on your calendar: We're just two weeks away from Iowa City's
annual "Big Kids Toy Show" -- our airport's big 2-day, fly-in breakfast
extravaganza!
We will be serving pancakes and pork sausage (fresh -- these sausages
are still pigs, as I'm typing this! :-) breakfast BOTH mornings, from

Any restaurant walkable from KGYR? by
Mike Noel
We've flown from Tucson to the Phoenix area a gazillion times for breakfast,
visiting Chandler, Falcon, Glendale, Scottsdale, Gateway and Deer Valley.
Is there anything reachable on foot within a mile of Goodyear? Any other
suggestions for the Phoenix area?

Cost sharing revisited by
Roger Long
I started a thread about a week ago in which I passed on something I was
told by AOPA two or three times. You can be in violation of your private
pilot privileges if you make a flight solely to accommodate the needs of
your passenger, even if you accept no reimbursement for costs.
A number of...

Google aviation ads by
cjcampbell
Unfortunately, my only access to Usenet from this place is through
Google Groups. Our firewall blocks everything else. It is not so bad,
but I notice that the first three advertisements that are shown next to
the thread are from aviation injury lawyers all promising big
settlements for people...

Thanks, All...and Merry Christmas! by
Jay Honeck
As often as we all disagree, as seldom as we see eye to eye, and as dim a
view of one another as we all might occasionally take, let's not forget that
it's our love of aviation -- and this newsgroup -- that binds us together
across the years and miles. We truly are blessed to be able to partake...

Logbook entries webscript by
Pascal Duchemin
Hello,
I pratically never post in this group but love to read other people
experiences, it is so "enriching".
A friend of mine and I wrote a script ( some kind of program ) that
allows me to add my logbook entries in a more informal way than my
normal paper logbook. You can check it out at...

Online Aviation Marketplaces by
DanH
Hello
I am helping a friend sell an airplane and a home in an airpark. I
would like to get suggestions from this group as to good online forums
and marketplaces to post these items.
I've never been in the market for either of these items, so I don't know
much about where to go.
Where do you...

Fed EX and Joint Reserve Base by
Chuck
It seems that every Saturday morning around 9-10 AM I see a FedEx plane
flying over Benbrook, TX at what I'm guess to be between 3,000 to 5,000 ft.
He looks like he is a little off to be going to the Joint Reserve Base
(Carswell), but that's the only thing I can figure that he is going.
I...
