Which plane for Canada to Europe? by
fakeout
Does anyone here know which planes you could choose if you wanted to fly with 4 passengers and luggage from Canada to Europe? Do you have to go over $500K to get a plane that could do that? I've tried doing research but can't find answers. Would you and can you refuel in Greenland then Iceland?...

answer - but I am hoping that someone here can.

White soot on exhaust by
R. Wubben
While taking my new to me'62 Cessna 172 with an O-300 (with about 75
hours on it SMOH with Millenium cylinders), I decided to start leaning
as I should on my last flight.
During the next preflight I noticed a whitish soot around the exhaust
and on the cowl just adjacent to the stack during the...

Who pays follow-up by
Viperdoc[_4_]
Threw the belt again after twenty minutes in IMC on the way to the avionics
shop. Destination was VMC, so elected to continue rather than turn around or
land, and the other alternator was handling the load easily.
Avionics guy fixed the radar (took three guys around 30 minutes). Belt...

Who pays redux by
Viperdoc[_4_]
After a few weeks, I called my mechanic, since I had not received a bill.
(See previous threads for background):
Immediately after the last annual, the plane threw an alternator belt. We
went through three belts, and the last one has been in for six hours and
worked fine. During this time we...

Why a static port? by
Paul Mennen
I can understand why pressurized aircraft need static ports,
but why do unpressurized airplanes have them? I wouldn't think
the pressure difference between the inside and the outside of
the airplane wouldn't differ by that much. (When I open the alternate
static port in my C185, the altimeter...

Why is LOP (lean of peak) controversial? by
Andrew Gideon
I'm not asking about LOP itself, but why it's so "hot" snicker a topic.
It would seem to be a simple thing to me: the cylinders run at decent
temperatures LOP or they do not. What else is there?
I know at least one person in person, and others from their postings, that
are getting success...

Why is my throttle 3/4 closed at cruise? by
Ross Oliver
Last week I flew my Grob from San Jose (RHV) to Torrance (TOA)
and back. Total time was nearly 6 hours, but burned
only about 30 gallons of fuel. The book says 9 gallons per
hour at 75% cruise. I've noticed this before, that it never
burns nearly as much fuel as I would expect. Another thing...

Why No N-Number in FAA Database? by
Carl Orton
Hi all;
Checking into my first plane purchase, and have a question for you that I'm
not sure of.
I found a plane. I have not seen the registration cert (haven't looked for
it).
The N-number is *not* in the FAA aircraft registry database.

Why not a hinged panel? by
Jay Honeck
As many of you may recall, we had the Skycraft landing lights installed
in our 235 last month. During our first night flight with them last
week we popped the 5 amp circuit breaker for the left side panel
lights.
This had no effect on the landing lights, which continued to work
perfectly (and,...

Why so many 310s for sale? by
[email protected]
I've noticed quite a few Cessna 310s posted for sale recently on
ebaymotors and controller.com. This got me wondering if there is a
reason why there are so many on the market (beyond the obvious high
fuel and insurance costs for twins). Are 310s impacted by the spar ADs
that the bigger twin Cessnas...
