Halon Fire Extinguisher? by
O. Sami Saydjari
I just got my first issue of "Light Plane Maintenance" magazine.
I am really enjoying it. In their free book "40 Top Maintenance Tips"
(p27), they say "get the Halon extinguisher while they are still legal."
As I recall, there has been some issue that inhaling Halon can be pretty
bad for people's...

Ham radio in aircraft by
Jay Maynard
As my .signature attests, I'm also a ham radio operator. I'd like to be able
to use a 2 meter/440 MHz dual-band radio in the aircraft. While, ideally,
that radio would be an Icom IC-2820H, like the one in my car, practically
speaking it'll be a handheld. An external antenna would seem to be a...

Handheld GPS auto mount OK? by
Henry Kisor
I've just bought myself a new Garmin handheld GPS. I noticed that the auto
dash mount is stuck to the dashboard with some kind of double-stick stuff.
Is it OK by the FAA to stick the mount onto my airplane's glare shield this
way, or do they consider it a permanent installation and require 337s...

Hangar & PortAPort Ground Rent by
RST Engineering
The local airport authority (county) wants a pretty hefty chunk of change
increase in the ground rental for our personally owned PortAPort hangars as
well as a goodly increase in the county owned permanent T-hangars at GOO.
If you are in a hangar (especially a personally owned portaport type...

Hangar construction question - Level Hangars? by
Al G[_1_]
Our City Council recently had some t-hangars built at KRBG. They were
built on a slope, I think 1.5%. The doors open real easily one way, and need
help going the other way. The floors aren't level, the walls aren't
vertical, albeit not by very much.
My question is: Doesn't this cause some...

hangar door information by
aa5flyer
I recently purchased a hangar with a one piece site-constructed door
with an electric opener. After replacing some rotted 1X4s on the
bottom, the door now binds and needs adjusment. I was told the door
was called either an EAA door or an Ultimate door (Ultimate being the
company that made the...

hangar fire extinguisher by
[email protected]
I see a neighbor's hangar has two conventional fire extinguishers on
the wall. Not a bad idea, I'm sure. But for potential hangar fires are
halon still the best or are the conventional extinguishers just fine?

I have a 48x60' hangar that I want to insulate for the upcoming MN

Hangar rent by
Kobra
I don't know if this has been covered before, but how much is everyone
paying for their hangars and what is provided?
Mine is a T-hanger with a dirt floor, free electric and manual doors that
are a bear to open and close. The hangar is damp of course, but not too
bad.
When we first secured it...

After 6 years on the waiting list, I'm guaranteed to get one if I want it.

Hangar Space Available at 47N by

I have an end unit hangar (extra corner space) in which I am
working on a Champ restoration project. There is enough space
in the front of the hangar for a small high wing plane like a
Champ or Cub or an Ultralight... It isn't the greatest hangar (it
leaks a bit), but you can have the front part...
