A Great New Web Site for Soldiers! by [email protected]
Desert Voices - a site for the troops Returning home from a war can often be just as difficult as being in the war. Soldiers have so much more to say than they care to share with family or friends. I speak from experience, being a veteran of the first Gulf War. Soldiers need an outlet, a means of...

1925-dirigble target towing by old hoodoo
I just read that the Shenadoah towed a target for the USS Texas anti-aircraft guns with success. The target was 50' long 10' in diameter and was peppered by the Texas at 3000 feet. An interesting use for the lighter-than air ship. AL

service ceiling of F-22 by zxcv
I have seen descriptions of the F-22 having a service ceiling of 50,000 feet which is 13,000 less than I have seen for the F-15. I thought the F-22 was much more advanced.in every way except perhaps top speed. How can the F-22 be the air supieriority fighter of the future when its predessor can...

Macchi 205, Re. 2005, Fiat G.55 by N-6
I am interested in getting more info about the Italian "Series 5" fighters of WW2 (Macchi MC. 205, Reggiane Re. 2005, Fiat G.55). Some specific questions: 1. Did any Macchi 205's have 20mm cannons installed /inside/ the wings, or did cannon-equipped 205's only have them in under-wing gondolas? My...

Countering Widespread Ignorance About the National Guard by Rick Folkers
This post is for Art Kramer and his ilk who should ask questions instead of pontificating on subjects they are totally ignorant of. I have just about had it with the bull**** spread by people ignorant of the National Guard and its roles during the 60's through the 80's. My experience with the...

The Rain at Pontoise It had been raining for a week and our airfield at Pontoise was drenched. The squadron streets were a morass of mud. When you walked your boots sank into the mud and there was a sucking sound as you lifted each foot to walk. We were mostly hunched in out tents with a small...
