Safety pilot - logging cross-country by S Herman
For IFR practice, in the situation where both pilots are logging PIC, one as sole manipulator, the other as acting PIC, can both pilots log cross-country (assuming the flight meets the length requirements) for the purpose of meeting the requirements for the Instrument Rating?

Safety pilot in and out of IMC by Paul Tomblin
I want to go fly some approaches (and a hold) on Sunday. I know from experience that it's likely that the ceilings will be too high to do any meaningful approaches in IMC, but high enough that I might be in IMC during the vectors to the approach or at the hold. I figured I could take along a...

Safety Pilot Qualification? by Richard
I'm sure this has be hashed over many times, but I can't find it now. In the current issue of "IFR" (December, 2003), an editorial answer to a reader's question contained the following - (referring to a safety pilot requirements): ".... if you use a safety pilot and write that safety pilot's...

Safety Pilot restrictions by the Insurance Company? by Mark Hansen
I belong to a flying club. Of the many club rules, one is that the pilot acting as PIC must be a club member. I can certainly see where this is necessary. However, the Chief Pilot for the club claims that the insurance company is requiring that a safety pilot for IFR practice must also be a club...

Safety Pilots? by Wizard of Draws
I rent and fly 172s out of Gainesville, GA (KGVL). I used to fly out of 47A and had a number of safety pilots available there (too far to be convenient for them now), but this FBO is fairly new and doesn't have a list put together yet of pilots that can safety for me. Anyone know of a good place...

Saftey Pilot by Richard Ross
If an instrument rated saftey pilot files an IFR flight plan on a VMC day, can the student inst. pilot legally log simulated instrument time while under the hood? The liability of the flight will rest entirely with the instrument rated saftey pilot. However, for the purpose of logging simulated...

Say Again #51 by [email protected]
I was just reading Don Brown's latest (6/22) on avweb: http://www.avweb.com/news/columns/189944-1.html This column is about NORDO IFR procedures. I like Don's columns and find their nitpickiness to be consistent with safe flying, if a little bit annoying. But in this column, two things stuck out...

scheduling website by Jim Burns
We've been using www.youcanbookit.com for scheduling our airplane. So far it's been easy and worked great. The best part about it was it was a free/commercial based site. Unfortunately the site has gone down and the owner says it isn't likely to be put back online. What web based scheduleing...

Scrubbed IRA checkride by Dave Jacobowitz
I have no reason to make this post except that none of my coworkers understand my disappointment. I had to scrub my instrument checkride today because the aircraft I train in went in for a 50-hr inspection (my club's code-word for "oil change") and ended up with the door sent out to be welded....
