financing by
Todd
I'm a new pilot thinking about buying an old plane. What are typical
interest rates and terms for financing? Looking for a cessna 152 or
172.

Financing for Experimental Aircraft by
James Keane
Gang,
I am peparing to purchase a Long EZ (a very nice one, at that). While
I have the cash, I figure I'm better financing a portion of hte
airplane for various reasons (likely 60-70%).
Am I going to have difficulty finding a lender for an Experimental
category aircraft that is already built and...

Find A&P/IA's name based on cert number by
Chad
In my logs I have an A&P/IA's certificate number, but I can't read his
signature so I don't know what the name is, how can I find his name and
address? I looked at landings.com and faa.gov but they don't allow you
to search on certificate number.

Finding "Neutral" Position on Piper Elevator/Trim Tab by
[email protected]
I have a '79 Piper Warrior with a floor-mounted flap lever/trim wheel
and cover. The trim wheel has a metal needle pointing to a sticker on
the cover to show "neutral". The only reason this matters is that
setting the trim wheel/tab to neutral is part of the pre-flight
checklist.
The plastic...

Finding a Good A&P by
O. Sami Saydjari
OK, I have a controversial question. How does one find a good A&P
mechanic. I just bought a Piper Turbo Arrow III recently and I want to
find a mechanic in my area (Central Wisconsin) that I can trust and is
competent. I am interested in hearing about how folks find the good
A&Ps out there,...

I have just started looking for my first aircraft and have been doing
all the due diligence of reading up as much as I can.
What I am struggling with is the fact how do I go about locating a good

Paul kgyy
I'm possibly having to replace a set of plugs; what are the pros/cons
of using fine wire types? I know they are more expensive, but what do
you get in return for the cost?

Fire extinguisher question by
Kees Mies
Hi All,
I had a small engine fire yesterday.
Nothing really serious, just primed too much and whoomp.
Damage, 1 hose costing 22,50 euro, 1 empty extinguisher and a dented
ego.
Now i have the problem about replacing the extinguisher.
The old one contained Halon, but this stuff is prohibited in...

First Annual Fun - Day 1 by
Jon Kraus
Day one of our first annual for our '79 Mooney 201. Looks like we are
needing a new exhaust system for $1600.00 rebuilt... I have been busy
pulling all the inspection panels... Mooney's are famous for having a
million screws to remove. I only undid a half a million :-)
More fun tomorrow... Any...

First Annual Fun - Day 2 by
Jon Kraus
No new gotcha's today... Maybe the exhaust is the biggy and will stay
that way. The A & P said except for the exhaust the Mooney is pretty
clean and passing the inspections with no issues. All the control
surface, landing gear, electrical inspections are pretty much complete.
All the inspections...

First emergency by
EventHorizon
I thought you might all find this story interesting.
Me, I'm 53 and have been flying since 1988 with about 1000 hrs. My
partner is a CFI and we've been in a Cherokee 140 partnership for about
12 years. We have a 1974 Cherokee Cruiser, which we normally keep well
maintained (!).
About a week...

First flight in our "new" Ercoupe... by
Jay Honeck[_2_]
A few months ago a group of us "pilots with kids" realized that our
pilot-rated children could no longer afford to fly even the clapped-out
rental 150s at our local FBO. Over a few beers, we started plotting a way to
help.
All of us were already aircraft owners -- but we all owned...
