Garmin 396 weather problems by
dlevy
On a recent flight I could not get my 396 to download weather. I've called
Garmin, given them my antenna number, and was assured I don't have a bad
one. I took the magnets out so no warrenty possibilities.
I thought I read a while back that there is an aftermarket antenna. If not,
how much...

Lost Comm route? by
[email protected]
I think this is a well worn question, but my digging isn't getting an
answer for my specific scenario(s).
Aircraft does NOT have a WAAS GPS. It could have an older IFR
certified (just not Sole Navigation) GPS.
1. File Airways/VORs (within 40/25 mile service radius). Upon
departure, request & get...

Mo Why publish a plate for an OTS approach? by

What part of your butt did you pull that BS out of?
Congress has nothing to do with the federal register.

they do it through obscure references to Part 97, each approach must

OBS Mode for procedure turn by
kevmor[_3_]
When using a GPS in leg mode going to the IAF for a procedure turn, when you
switch it to OBS mode, don't you loose your navigation (except for the
moving map)? You don't want to wait too long to switch to OBS, or else it
may sequence to the next waypoint when you get to the IAF, but the sooner...

1961 Cessna 210A Part 135 810 S/FReman $25,800 ? by
Victor Bravo
The bidding on the Cessna 210 ebay austion is halfway over, only 4
days left. So far the high bid os only $25,800 which would be the
steal of the century...uhhh... I mean the steal of the Centurion! Put
in a reasonable bid and you might fly away in a really nice airplane !
This airplane was...

Odd missed approach instructions by
Paul Tomblin
The published missed for the RNAV (GPS) RWY 04 at KROC says "Climb to 3000
direct CISON WP and via 098(degree) track to BREIT WP and hold". I'm
trying to think why they'd put in that "098 track" thing instead of just
saying "direct BRIET WP". The plan view makes it look like after crossing
CISON...

Northstar M1 Loran Battery by
Ron Gordon
I recently purchased a database update for my Northstar M1 LORAN from CMC
Electronics and a new battery which they also list on their Web site.
Replacing the EPROM database was easy, but I cannot find where the battery
goes. Has anyone replaced the battery in the M1? Where is it?
Thanks!

I have just listed a friend's really nice 210 on ebay. The airplane
was maintained on a Part 135 certificate, owned and flown by an A&P-
IA / Airline Maintenance Inspector for a specialized medical transport
business. This is an excellent opportunity to get a no-problems, well-
maintained mid-time...

IFR flight plan cancellation time by
Gerald S.
I had filed a flight plan for 8pm local the other night. I tried
amending the departure time as I was leaving 1.5 hours later than the
proposed time. I called the FSS and was told the IFR flight plan gets
deleted by the system 2 hours after the proposed departure time. I
thought it was 45...

Desktop Application With WAAS LPV Approaches? by
Will[_2_]
Is there any desktop application that runs as a GUI under Windows that would
give me a database of the newer WAAS GPS approaches (e.g., LNAV + V, LPV,
etc)? I do NOT need currency on this. A one time snapshot that I could
update maybe once a year would be fine. I definitely do not want...

Some IFR GPS's no longer useable by
kevmor
I just heard about this from AOPA's site:
http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/newsitems/2007/070524gps.html
I haven't read the AC yet, but it looks like a lot of GPS's that are
out there aren't usable in lieu of ADF/DME or for RNAV use.
Also, as I'm still somewhat new to IFR GPS'es, what is the...

honestly stating what the airlines want, which is to make

Where is MEPTE by
Jose
How can I find out where the FAA thinks MEPTE is? On the NOS IFR charts
it's charted as in the water (or over it), but when I fly it, it's over
land. I know the NOS charts are not all that accurate (for topography)
but I'd like to know where it is, for a certification flight for our GPS.
Any...

How to find LPV approaches? by
Paul Tomblin
None of the RNAV approaches at my local airport has LPV minimums. I want
to try out our club's nifty new 530W. I've tried a couple of LNAV+VNAV
approaches, and they aren't all that exciting because the mins aren't any
better than the LNAV-only minimums.
Is there a search engine that will find...

GNS430 vs. GX60 - missing functions by
Jim Carter[_1_]
This question particularly applies to the CAP mission pilots in the group:
we have been flying GX50 and 60s in our CAP birds, but I'm playing with
a GNS430 in a private aircraft. There doesn't seem to be a correlation of
the SAR functions in Garmin's unit like Apollo's.
I'd like to know how...
