Just wondering what you and Mary thought of the Air Zoo and did you ever
convince the approach controller that Atlas wasn't a (dare I say it)
"Cardinal"!?

Best headset? by
Hankal
Question to all who use Lightspeed headsets.
I have been using Avcom headsets for the last 4 years. Only complaint is the
pressure on the ears, even with GEL cups.
How do you like Lightspeed? Pro and Con.
What is the best model for the best cost?
How do you rate the reliability?
Where is cheapest...

Flying in Ireland by
Len
Hey all,
I've been following this forum for quite a while and appreciate the
views and discussions that appear from this group. I've been able to
learn a lot from this group.
That being said....
Does anyone have experience flying in Ireland? I recently got my PPSEL
ticket, and I have an Irish...

Pressure Altitude or Density Altitude by
john smith
I am becoming confused by everything I am reading.
When I set cruise power, do I set the MP and RPM for the pressure
altitude I am cruising at?
Or do I set it for the calculated density altitude?
Or, does density altitude only affect mixture/leaning?
I know full throttle (MP) altitude is affected...

Reducing the Accident Rate by
Snowbird
Hi All,
Just got back from the national convention of my type
club (insert glowing comments about beautiful planes,
wonderful people, fun activities, helpful FBO here)
So here's a topic related to Jay's thread "Scary". At
the membership meeting, the club's Safety Director rightly
pointed out...

Jackass, NV Airport U75 by
Gerald Sylvester
I am going to be flying from the Bay Area to Las Vegas next week in an
Archer. I've been looking for a place a little more interesting to take
a short break other than Modesto or Fresno grin. I was thinking about
stopping off to fuel up at Jackass, NV U75. It is an unpaved runway.
Any PIREPS...

Canadian Maritime Airports: Request for Info by
David Megginson
I'll be flying my Warrior II to the Maritimes from Ottawa this August on a
family trip. Since airnav.com does not cover Canadian airports, I was
hoping to get some information about fees, FBOs, etc. from the readers of
this group. Here are the Maritime airports I'm planning to visit:

Is the Garmin 196 old technology? by
Cub Driver
Now that the 196 weighs in at $799, or a bit less with the AOPA
discount, it is suddenly light enough to fit in the Cub. I am really
tempted to put my III+ on eBay and buy the 196.
Or am I too late to the party? Will I hate myself next year because I
don't have a color screen?
I run the GPS on...

Oshkosh RAH RAP Frequencies (Final ... sort of) by
Jim Weir
Since I have no verified or observed data from which to work, here are the final
suggested frequencies for the RAH/RAP group to use going to, coming from, and
while on the field:
FRS -- Channel 3 with no PL (no tone encoding)
Amateur 2-meter -- 145.75 simplex no PL. Use the local repeaters...

xc tool. by
Todd Neidinger
Hi All,
As a long time lurker I have learning and gained much from this group,
now hopefully I can contribute some. I have written a tool that you may
find useful. It came about because my wife did not like me asking her
to lookup freq. and airport info while flying together. I'm a newly
minted...

Hilarious ANN article by
BeaglePig
I actually LIKE reading ANN.... they actually DO get most aviation news
out before anyone else, you just have to watch them sometimes.
I laughed out loud for 5 min straight after reading the first paragraph
of Jon Thornburgh's article... Them's some funny planes those sport
pilots will be flying...

Destruction due to turbulence when below Va - how? by
john smith
Peter wrote:
I think I understand the reasoning behind Va, the max maneuvering
speed, being that the wing will stall (and thus dispose of the
loading) before it breaks. This is why Va falls as the weight falls,
because at any given IAS a higher weight takes the aircraft closer to
stall...
