Greatest Show on Earth by
There is a great article on Oshkosh in the Winter 2005 issue of the
magazine American Heritage of Invention and Technology entitled "The
Greatest Show on Earth". This magazine is one of the few that I read
cover to cover. I highly recommend it.

silly question on best glide speed? by
I was just wondering if best glidespeed in say a cessna 152 will be fast
enough to
get the engine started if you encountered a battery failure or starter
failure.

Oshkosh 2005 pictures up by
Alright, I realize that Oshkosh is so very last week, but with my drive home
to Southern California and going back to work it's taken me until now to
weed through all 1992 pictures I took.
I weeded them down to 539... obviously not all of them are interesting but
at least they're broken up into...

Barometer Setting in Europe question... Altitudes in 100' multiples? by
All this information is very helpful... I thank you all. Needing to account for
Transition Altitudes and Levels in some potential software, I will take
this all into account. It wasn't stated directly, but can I presume these
altitudes are always a multiple of 100 feet? (In airspaces where english...

Barometer Setting in Europe question... by
Here in the US, the barometer setting used is either the local setting when below 18,000'
MSL or 29.92 when at or above 18,000' MSL. This is according to FAR 91.81.
My question is on understanding how this works in Europe (and other airspaces
besides the US). My current hazy knowledge is that the...

Tailwheel Crosswind Landing by
I am a long term lurker and have a question regarding landing tailwheel
airplanes in a crosswind. I have about 250 hours in a Piper PA-12 Super
Cruiser. The other day during a very routine crosswind landing I
started heading for the weeds faster than I new what to do.
I had a fairly gentle cross...

[OT]: SpaceShipOne Pictures Uploaded by
Hey everyone,
If anyone's interested, I've uploaded my pictures from both X-Prize flights.
Somehow, happily, I managed to make it out there for both launches. I even
captured the sonic boom of re-entry from the X2 flight, and uploaded it as
an mp3....

I don' know if anyone in this group has had the pleasure of flying to
Stanley Idaho and taking a ride through the Sawtooth mountains with Bob

spectacular , serene, majestic, and always new and exciting. Unfortunately,
Bob is gone....

Is it possible? by
Is it possible to become an ATP-rated airline pilot without going through
the military and without owning your own plane? Do people do this often?
What would the certificate/rating and career paths be?

Vandenberg Launch, April 17 by
Hey guys,
I'm a student pilot (7.1 hours, woohoo!) flying out of Long Beach,
California. I'm also a first year aerospace engineering major with a keen
interest in anything that flies. That being the case, I would love to see
the next launch out of Vandenberg, scheduled for Saturday the 17th....

Where to rent in Anchorage, AK by
'Vejita' S. Cousin
I'm a private pilot from the Seattle area. I'm going to be in
Anchorage from now until 5/7/04. I was looking at airnav and the two
local airports (PANC PAMR) don't seem to have planes for rent. Can
someone recommend a club/FBO in the area?
