We flew the umbrella. RAF flew clamshell by
ArtKramr
I got an e-mail from a lurker wanting to know why I always referred to fighter

so they would have a sigificant diving advantage over any attackers The RAF
Spits however socked in around us like a clamshell and went down...

How did the Brits do it? by
ArtKramr
I think back to the war and the RAF heavies on their night missions. Missions
flown in the winter usually were in atrocioius weather where there was no view
of the gound and the sky above was overcast. There was no way to shoot at star
fix or take a dirft reading from the ground. Working dead...

Cheryl's reply by
ArtKramr
Dear Art,
Thank you so much for writing back to me. I am so thrilled that you not only
have memories, but that you are so willing to share them. I can't tell you what
that means to me. We have a little dementia problem with my parents and
memories are hard to come by. Your website is wonderful....

Is it easier now? by
ArtKramr
Did military discipline become looser and more liberal since WWI?. Is
military life easier now than it was then?

He went down on this mornings mission. He won't be back.
When Paul, Bob and I arrived at the 344th we were assigned to the 494th
squadron and given separate quarters along the squadron street. I entered mine
and dumped my stuff on the one empty bunk there. I unpacked my B-4 bag, hung up

Simulators- 175 hits and growing by

This has to be the most acitve and responsive threads in the history of this
NG. And it has only been around for about two weeks if that. I guess it goes
to the very core of widespread aviation interests generating passion, flames
as well as thoughtful gentlemanly responses. And it all started...

The RCAF needs no defending by
ArtKramr
Their heroic record speaks for itself. And it seems that the only ones who
question that are back-biting, carping, do-nothings who themselves have no
record of acheivement.
