The way wig wags animate. by
[email protected]
Hi,
I'm building some wig wags to add into an airport sim. At the moment, I know they are two amber lights which alternate at about 30-60 cyles per minute.
My question is, when they are on both sides of the stop bar, do they animate in a particular way. For example, as a rough drawing ( zero =...

Winglets not on some aircraft? by
DaveC
On a recent trip from USA to Asia I saw a few modern, new, large multiengine
jet airliners that had no winglets.
I was under the impression that these were standard design items for all
large aircraft wings.
What design criteria would determine that winglets were not to be used on the
wings...

Where can I watch planes? (Northern NJ) by
TeleTechnician
Greetings.
I am not a pilot, though some day I would like to start lessons.
I live near TEB and CDW. I have two toddlers who love airplanes.
At CDW, I have been able to find a place not on airport grounds where we
can spot the planes taking off and landing. However, TEB is closer. At
TEB, I...

Cessna 152 (proper) air/fuel ratio... by
dtvonly
Hi. I am a student pilot and have always done "proper" leaning per flight altitude. I should have asked this a long time ago but...anyway...when using the mixture control to get "optimum" RPM at altitude, what is the "optimum" air/fuel ratio ? 3:1, 4:1, etc...
Thank you.

Handheld battery question by
RobsSanta
My brain has totally gone blank for this simple question, I know I should
have paid more attention in school !!!.
I just was given a 12volt 1200mAh battery and a 200mh 3W wall charger by a
friend who is quitting flying. It has been that long since he used the
battery he doesn't remember charging...

Phonetic alphabet -- dixie instead of delta? by
Roy Smith
The wikipedia article
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_phonetic_alphabet) on phonetic
alphabets says:
"At some United States airports, the use of Delta for the letter D is
avoided because it is also the callsign for Delta Air Lines. "Dixie"
seems to be the most common substitute."
The tower at...
