ASW19 Tail Dolly by
Jay Allardyce
Hello All,
I recently purchased an ASW19 and unfortunately it did not include a
tail dolly. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone knows if an ASW20
tail dolly would fit on an ASW19. I've heard rumblings that their
fuselages are very similar (if not the same). Has anyone had any
experience with...

HP-18J Twin Turbine Self-Launch Sailplane by
[email protected]
Here are a couple of links from my latest project. The sailplane is a Richard Schreder HP-18 kit from the 70's that I built over the last 4 to 5 years. I am using twin Jetcat P300 turbines for self-launch and sustained flight. There are numerous modifications that have been incorporated into the...

N97MT
Has anyone read up on the upcoming change to US Student Pilot certificates on April 1?
(1) Paper certificates being done away with. Current ones still valid until they expire. The new plastic certificates will have no expiration date.
(2) AMEs will no longer issue Student Pilot certificates....

Runway lights and wingspans by
Bret Hess
What rules of thumb for min width do you use when choosing runways to avoid lights for 15m and 18m ships?
Crosswinds?
Are the lights at a standard distance from the asphalt in the US?
Do any of you hang your wings over the lights?

Final Glides: GPS or Pressure Altitude? by
[email protected]
Ignoring airspace and start/finish gate implications, which is better for managing final glides: GPS or pressure altitude?
At the Nephi Nationals, I was using a Dell Streak 5 running Top Hat glide computer software. I'd built a wiring harness for my PowerFLARM to successfully input traffic and...

AOPA announcement
By Mary Grady
When the FAA changed its certification process in April to include TSA security vetting, one unintended consequence was that the tradition of student pilots flying their first solo on their birthday fell by the wayside — until today. Acting on a request from...

Wingcarts for a Kestrel? by
BruceGreeff
Hi All
African problem. The wing carts have been stolen from the trailer for
their scrap metal value...
I have a Slingsby T59D series 1.
Does anyone have any idea where I might get drawings, or obtain a second
hand pair, before I start trying to reverse engineer and bodge something
together.
