Sun N Fun by
Jay Honeck
We just got back last evening, after a beautiful, weather-free flight home
from Florida.
Flight time to Sun N Fun a week ago was just 6 hours -- but it took us three
days to get there! We ran into this little problem with SNOW in Nashville,
where we ended up seeing a lot more of the Grand Ole...

wanted: hangar door tips by
Joa
Our EAA chapter had a 40' hangar door that split in the middle and
folded sideways (each half). The ends were hinged and the center had
a single roller that ran in a track above. The bottom was not
attached in any way and just hung. It was held closed and open with
large steel pins that dropped...

Multi-Engine Before Commercial? by
David B. Cole
My original plan was to finish the instrument rating and then do some
additional aerobatic training and a tailwheel endorsement before
starting the commercial. But for some reason, as I approach the end of
the instrument training, I've had an interest in doing the multi. I
know that I wouldn't be...

Electronic Flight Computers that work in Millibars by
Cockpit Colin
Hi Folks,
Does anyone know if any of the Electronic Flight Computers will crunch
Millibar data, without having to convert to Inches of Mercury first?
Would be interested to read any pilot reports of electronic units they own.
(Just received my E6B-F from Sporty's, and it's going right back...

What's your most familiar route? by
Ben Jackson
What route do you fly most often or feel most comfortable with? How
far could you wander from your home base without needing a map or even
a compass to find all the cities and airports?

What's wrong with this invention (personal vtol) ? by
Eddie
Hi Folks,
I recently had a vision - in fact, it was the week of the Wright
Brothers 100th anniversary - for what it's worth... single occupant
VTOLs...
Look at the quicktime video and tell me if my idea has merit.

Strong crosswind landings! by
Toks Desalu
I flew for the first time since months. The weather was beautiful today.
METAR forecasted calm winds at my airport. I arrived at home airport and
checked the wind stock. To my surprise, the windsock told a different story.
I called in FSS and learned that the wind is blowing 14 knots, gusting to...

Airplane turns by
Dave
I'm curious as to how an airplane behaves during turns. It is my
understanding that once you put the plane into a turn and return the
yoke to a level position, the plane will stay in a turn but will
straighten itself out slowly. Does the rate at which the airplane
straightens out vary by model? ...

Humor...some old, some no so old by
Tom Sixkiller
While taxiing at London Gatwick Airport, the crew of a US Air flight
departing for Ft. Lauderdale made a wrong turn and came nose to nose with
a United 727.
An irate female ground controller lashed out at the US Air crew,
screaming: "US Air 2771, where the hell are you going?! I told you
to...

Oh, the pressure! by
Andrew Gideon
I've flown with DEs and with very experienced instructors. But nothing
prepared me for today. In a new (to me) plane, I was flying with three
other pilots on board.
Yikes!
In fact, it wasn't so bad until it came time to park at our destination.
How four pilots could come up with five different...

What skills atrophy first? by
Michael 182
Flew today for the first time in two months. I'm a 1000 hour pilot, so it's
not as if I'm starting from scratch, but I really felt slow on every
thinking step. Had to refer to checklists to remember all the preflight,
startup, takeoff drills, which made me wonder what I had forgotten on
emergency...
