Colour Blind by
treefroginometry
Hi all,
I had an eye test a few years ago (about 10), it confirmed that I'm
red/green colour blind. Which I don't understand as I CAN see red and green.
Anyway, this news destroyed my life long ambition of becoming a pilot. Not
all was lost though, I developed an interest in PC flight simulators...

Flight Star or Destination Direct by
Scubadooo
Does anyone have an opinion on these two products?
I am debating between Flight Star and Destination Direct.
They are both desktop flight planning software that seem to have their
individual benefits.
Price is not the issue here, only user friendliness and graphics.

Anyone been to Blakesburg? by

For several days we have enjoyed having a delightful couple (flying a
beautiful -- and gigantic -- old Luscombe, all the way from the D.C. area!)
stay with us who are on their way to the antique aircraft fly-in, held at
Blakesburg, IA each year. Despite our owning poor old (but not old...

Suggestions for hour building in Europe? by
Thomas Borchert
Shane,
two point and some suggestions:
- Check carefully if the whole thing won't be cheaper in the US. Even
with low price rentals in Europe, it might be more expensive than
gettign a cheap flight to Florida and do your flying there, where it is
even cheaper.
- Mallorca (sp?) and Malaga in...

The AD that wasn't. by
Roger Long
With all the AD's for things with a very low likelihood of occurrence, you
really have to wonder why this (from Cessna Pilot's Association) isn't one.
It should be and you should check your engine immediately.
Many engines, particularly Lycomings, have a pressurized oil passage opening
into the...

Presidential TFR violations in Seattle? by
C J Campbell
It took me 40 minutes to get through to the FSS on the phone this morning. I
had a student at 8:00 am and then a charter at 11:00. Tacoma Narrows fell
within the 30 nm TFR. The briefer told me that nine planes had been forced
down in Redmond, OR, the previous day. The FSS confirmed for me that the...

Overly restrictive business flying requirements. by
Wily Wapiti
Hello.
I thought I'd bounce these off the group and see what people
think. These are the UniRegs at the University of Wyoming for flying
your own or rented plane on University business. I feel, as a
low-time private pilot that they are overly restrictive, but I thought
I'd see what the sage...

VOR and reverse sensing by

What is meant by reverse sensing?
Say I am southeast of the VOR station, and want to head straight to

with a "TO" indication, and the needle centered. If...

Registering foreign planes in US by

What is required to get an 'N' number for a foreign (to the US) registered
plane? Does sit matter where the plane is currently registered? Does the
plane have to be in the US currently?
Thanks,
