Aluminum vs Fiberglass landing gear - Pro's and cons. by
Bart Hull
I'm in the process of building a Team Tango (similar to a Glasair IIFG) and have
a few thoughts about the landing gear. The earlier kits had fiberglass "legs"
and the newer kits have aluminum legs.
I flew in a Tango with the aluminum gear and it seemed quite harsh on landing. I
know aluminum gear...

rudder cable question by
Bob Loer
The tail dragger I am building shows a closed loop rudder cable system. That
is to say both front pedals are joined by a cable that loops around a pulley
in front of the control stick on the floor. There are also pedal return
springs.
Is this extra weight and complexity needed? What is the...

I'm still trying to ID a homebuilt aircraft by
Phillip Rhodes
Hello
I'm STILL trying to ID a homebuilt aircraft which appeared in my local
newspaper here in the. The photograph is the property of Dez Wood,
who thinks that the aircraft was built in the 1930s in Yorkshire.
Please check out http://members.lycos.co.uk/driffieldflyer/ for more

Leon Davis DA-11 by
Rob Fonhof
Hi All.
Just a quick one. Was watching discovery and saw a few aircraft including
the Cri-cri and a DA-11. Both are very small and look like great fun. My
main point of interest is the DA-11. It is a small single seater, with a
cylindrical fuselage, and would you believe a Briggs and Stratton 2...

Marker Beacon Antenna - Paging Jim Weir. by
Bart D. Hull
Does the marker beacon antenna HAVE to be the length stated in your manual
or can it be scaled down?
Reason I ask is I don't have the length available in my fuselage without
going over large metallic objects. (Like a oxygen tank or rear tiedown mount.)
Thanks for your support.

Experimental Engine by

A am near applying for an airworthiness on my project and

Wanted: Transponder antenna by
Grandpa B.
I'm starting the fabrication of a new boot cowl for the Champ project. The
transponder antenna got wiped off the bottom during the groundloop (no, I
didn't do it!), so I gotta get a new one.
I've seen the 'bargain' version in AS&S for $22 or so. Are they useful, or
should I spend the ~$60 for a...

Cutting sheet steel by
Ernest Christley
I've got some .035 4130 that I have to cut elevon ribs from. 2 inch on
one end, 3/8ths on the other and about 16" long (each one is a different
length). The small end fits against a run of tube, the thick end against
the elevon spar. Both ends have to be shaped appropriately. The sides
of the...

taildragger toe-in vs toe-out AGAIN by
Joa
OK, I've researched this a fair bit and am still hearing two definite
different views. One one hand you have those that swear you need
toe-out and then on the other you have (among others- these are the
few I'm certain about) Cessna 100 series, Huskies, and Pitt's that all
are set with slight...
