Taxi accident at OSH by
StudentPPSEL
I just read this on Guardian Unlimited:
OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) - The propeller of a Navy warbird sliced into a
home-built airplane on a taxiway during an airshow Sunday, killing a
passenger, officials said.
The victim in the home-built Van's RV was pronounced dead at the scene at
Wittman Regional...

GNS 480 Simulator by
dave
I'm looking at an airplane, Beech M35, that has a 480 already installed.
I downloaded the manual and the simulator. The simulator crashes. I
also noticed that it pushes my CPU up to 100% usage. My computer is a
newer 1.8GHz with more than 2G of ram. I can't find any instructions
on the...

Question: Sharing Ownership and Flying Costs by
Steve B
I have a Mooney that I would like to start a partnership with. I plan
on finding a location on the West Coast to base the airplane.
My question is, with a partnership do you need to set an hourly rate
for maintenance or Engine reserves. Would a low hourly rate help to
keep the cost of maintenance...

Given that I only put 35 hours on my 150 this year and a very extensive

In-Panel 396/496 Setups with the 430/530? by
Marco Leon
Does anyone have this setup where the 396/496 (particularly the 496) is
in their panel hooked up through an RS232 cable to a 430 or 530? I saw
a post by Mikem with very good specifics on the pin-outs but I have a
couple of questions:
1) Does the 496 pick up the inputted flight plan/route from...

Maintenance Training by
Marco Rispoli
Hello. I own a Piper Cherokee in NJ.
I am very happy with my mechanic, his rates, my plane and how (knock on
wood) reliable it is. Overall my maintenance costs are acceptable and
well within my budget.
That being said, I want to learn how to maintain my plane and
eventually I want to work my way...

VNAV placard in DA-40, and pedal adjustment? by
Roy Smith
There's a cockpit photo of a DA-40 (http://tinyurl.com/yxju4u), there is a
placard just below and to the right of the right-hand MFD. I can't quite
read it, but I think it says "Use of VNAV Is Prohibited". Is that indeed
what it says? And, if so, why?
Second question -- I understand you...

Garmin GTX320 PIREP Request by
Marco Leon
Hi all,
Anyone using this simple and relatively cheap transponder care to share
their experience? Some questions I have:
1) How's the warm-up time and signal for ATC's radars?
2) Did you use the adapter for the King trays? If so, how's the fit
(does it stick out) and the ease of installation?

Fuel servo problem??? by
Robert M. Gary
Today I went out to my plane to fly and found a very odd problem. When
I started the plane after taxiing over the fuel, I could only get it to
run when the mixture was just at the edge of idle cut off. Moving it
even 1/8 forward caused the engine to die right away.
I did some diagnostics. At 1500...

Jim Weir's OSH Chairs by

As some of you know, Jim Weir missed OSH this year, for the first time
in 30+ years.
He did, however, ceremoniously ship his beloved OSH airshow chairs to
Montblack, for use at the rec.aviation gathering.
Here's a photo of me putting Jim's chair to maximum use during...

Oleo Struts by

Probably a silly question, but what are the pros and cons of air Vs
Nitrogen filling of the oleo struts. Just how much of a problem would be
the humidity be if they are filled with air. Given the environmental
temperatures would probably never get below freezing
Its for a Cherokee 235. Also...
