Glass panel upgrade to a Turbo Arrow? by
Tauno Voipio
The avionics on a Piper Turbo Arrow (PA28RT201T) are approaching
retirement age.
Does anybody know if there's a glass panel upgrade (a la G1000)
for the Turbo Arrow? Any STC's needed?

Questions on twin operation by
Frode Berg
Hi!
I have a few questions regarding twin operation.
This is all just lofty dreams for me right now, but I want realistic dreams,
hence the questions...:-)
I am a professional bass player by trade.
My instrument is BIG, meaning no way I can get it in my Arrow...:-(

Tugs by
Dico
Hello,
Can anyone recommend a good tug for a Twin Comanche? I see there are
some companies out there that make them... but if anyone has their
personal experience they want to share, i'd like to hear it... if you
can provide a link to their website it would be even better!

Replacing com antennas by
Mike Noel
I've ordered a pair of CI-291 Comant com antennas to replace the well worn
antennas on my Archer. Besides removing any oxidation where the aluminum
base contacts the aircraft and making sure the coax connector is clean and
serviceable and the mechanical connection robust, are there other...

Oregon vacation report (really long) by
JJS
The wife and I just back from our Oregon vacation that you helped us plan. You guys did a wonderful job.
Day 1: Left OKC on a Canadair regional jet to Phoenix. Boarded a 737 whose APU wouldn't start. 107 degrees on the
tarmac and no AC. And we left our Cherokee at home why? Oh well. Landed...

What sort of plane do I want? by
Paul Tomblin
Ok, when I'm dreaming, I want a deHavilland Beaver on amphib floats
with all the Kenmore mods. But lets be practical here, I haven't won the
lottery.
Is there a plane out there that:
- is on floats (preferably amphibs, but I know they add a lot to the cost)
- can carry two people plus camping...

GARMIN GNC 300XL TSO - Using the PC Interface by
KevinBlack
Hi,
Club aircraft has a GARMIN GNC 300XL TSO which according to the spec, has a
PC interface. Is there any software out there that I can run from a PC to
enter routes, waypoints etc directly into the device? Having a PC interface
is one thing, being able to use it without resorting to the SDK...

Bird Control - Some Success by
Marco Leon
Back in May '06, I posted asking for some ideas around keeping birds
off various parts of the airplane. My tiedown is at the end of a line
of tiedowns that places it next to a large hangar with various small
trees and vegetation surrounding the property that is home to many
birds. While I enjoy low...

Charging System Gremlin by
[email protected]
I have a vexing problem on my 1979 Warrior. The charging system will
shut down in flight at random times. The ammeter drops to 0 and the
idiot light comes on. A recycling of the ALT switch may stop the
problem but it may happen several more times before "settling down".
There is NO pattern to...

Troubleshooting the Comanche fuel system by
Thomas
I was flying a friend to an airport some 200 miles away where he’d had
some work done on his Mooney. I have a 1966 PA-24-260 with two main tanks,
two aux tanks and two tip tanks. About 5-10 minutes after I had leveled
off at 5500 feet and switched to the left aux tank, the engine started
acting...

Importing Canadian aircraft into US by
Shad
I see this subject was discussed on the list back in '99, but I was
wondering what people have been doing lately. I am purchasing a
Canadian registered 206 and am importing it into the US. The aircraft
just had an annual, but the owner doesn't have insurance on it, so the
option of having him fly...

'99-'00 172R vs 172SP: R is good? or the weak little brother? by
XrayYankee
Just doing some looking at the difference, or perceived differences between the earlier (1998, 1999, 2000) 172Rs and the 172SPs. And besides the extra kW rating of the same size engine to produce the 180hp (on the SP) over the 160hp (on the R), I can't find much else different. (with the...

Prop Blade Wiggles on C182 by
Greg Esres
A local pilot called me with a preflight issue of a propeller blade on
C182 being a bit loose in its socket. Holding the blade tip, he could
wiggle it front to back and twist it slightly, changing its pitch.
Some mechanics told him it was safe to fly home.
Anyone disagree?

Question on prop cycle by
Frode Berg
Hi!
I was told by my mechanic to only pull the prop handle until I could audibly
hear a slight pitch change to establish that it was working.
However, the aircraft manual says it should be cycled completely, and on a
cold engine three times to make sure oil is applied to the governor, or...

Hangar rent in Fairhope, AL by
Dan Luke
Construction is in progress for 16 new "T" hangars at 4R4 in Fairhope.
After 6 years on the waiting list, I'm guaranteed to get one if I want it.
Because of long lead times for structural components--particularly steel
structural members--completion is not expected until December.
Rent will be...
