Survivability VS landing speed by
[email protected]
Hi All,
Some time ago, kitplane had an article concerning the survivability as
a function of landing speed, at least I think that was the nature of
the article. Anyway, does anybody know about the article, or where I
can find a copy. If I remember correctly, the article was very well
written,...

Can all US Experimentals fly IFR? by

If not, which ones cannot and what are the rules for this?
Here in Europe, no aircraft with a sub-ICAO CofA can fly IFR.
You might get better information on experimentals in the homebuilt group.

Compressed air as fuel? by
Dancing Fingers
Hi Guys,
I remember years ago Kitplanes did a series on the potential for
batterry-powered aircraft. Recently, I watCHED Future Cars on the
Discovery channel and this guy had developed a car that ran on
compressed air. This seems like a more viable fuel for aircraft then
batteries. Has anybody...

Rudd Aeroplane Co. Oakland, CA by
[email protected]
Anyone heard of them?
They apparently vanished in 1929. I don't know if they made a
complete airplane or just hardware. (Interesting turn-buckle:
threaded 12-28.)
Any information would be warmly apprecaited.

1966 C-172 For Auction by
Victor Bravo
I have listed another aircraft on ebay for one of my airport
naighbors, this one is a 1966 Cessna 172G with 795 SMOH, in annual and
ready to fly right now. This is NOT a show quality plane, it DOES have
major damage history, and it AIN'T perfect. It is not embarrassing in
any way, it's just a cheap...

Odyssey Dry Cell Life/Failure Modes by
Ron Wanttaja
I installed an Odyssey Dry Cell battery in my Fly Baby about four years ago, and
I've been very happy with it.
Lately, though, my voltmeter has been running a bit low, both before the engine
starts and when the plane is cruising. My Microair transponder has a voltmeter
function, and I've verified...

Speed wing extensions by

I have just recently extended my C model speed wings. I removed the
Original wing bow tips and added 48 inches of lift to each wing with
flat tips. The situation now is I have a good bit of wash out. Enough
to where when the tail of the plane is lifted to where the she would
be in level flight, the...

Welding: Recovering from a poor joint. by
mhorowit
I have been given a patched landing gear. The weld looked like
bubblegum had been stuck to it and there were little pits where any
metal that had flowed, didn't flow around that impurity. I asked my
A&P if the embedded impurities hadn't been an issue, could I simply
remelt the joint and cause it...

Air Compressor Horsepower/Wattage/Amperage by
RST Engineering
I thought I had this compressor power thing down to a pretty good science
until they started screwing around with "rated watts" and "peak power" and
all that crap that makes their compressor look really good until you go to
use it.
Back when we were using "real" horsepower I used a figure of...
