Plastic Bonding by
Urban^nja
Ok this thread is completely unrelated to aircraft repairing or flying in general... maybe there is a commonality in that there is a kind of flying that I perform all the time.
There are a pair of skates that I use all the time since 2001. They are made by a company called Salomon and they are...

Johnson Rocket Projects by
Orval Fairbairn
A friend has decided to sell his two Johnson Rocket 185 project aircraft.
One has been stripped down and the fuselage primed with epoxy and
painted. That plane needs a rebuilding of the cockpit area, as the
previous owner butchered that area in an attempt to make a homebuilt.
The other plane is...

Airplane Keys by
Harry Williamson
I've been asked to post this here from a customer who
thought that my business would be a good resource for
hard to find airplane key blanks.
I specialize in key blanks and have a lot of common and
very hard to find airplane keys including ACS and Cessna blanks.
If you are looking for a...

STuck piano hinge pin by
Dick
My old project plane has working flap but it appears pin for hinge is
corroded and stuck.
Flap needs to be removed for access to rear main gear bracket.
I can't get a grip on holding the pin and pulling or twisting. Being cheap ,
would rather not cut the pin into small removable pieces as a...

Update on the Monino Fire by
Stephen Bierce
Hey.
I don't know which group I saw the subject in so I'm responding to all
three I could think of. This is from the Aero-News Network, a snippet
from a longer article about an effort to build operational replicas of
pre-WW2 Russian planes...
...as previously reported in Aero-News, a fire...

Kingfisher Float Value question by
certayn lee
I have a wingtip float for a WW2 vought OS2U Kingfisher floatplane.
I'd like to hear everyone's off the cuff opinion of what it should sell
for.
I want to sell it for something at least in the ball park of its value and
not essentially give it away.
Its major flaw is that a large section of the...

Anyone interested in P-51H pics? by
mustanger
Hi,
I'm working on a restoration of a North American P-51H Mustang at the
Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum. Our efforts are producing a lot of general
and detail photos that we can't post on the website. (www.aeromuseum.org

If anyone has an interest, I'd be happy to...

F/A-18 for sale in Kansas? by
mah
First, I normally reside in rec.av.mil. Hopefully I'm not violating the
group charter by asking my question here.
Several months ago someone offered an F/A-18 fuselage for sale on Ebay.
If I recall correctly it was in Olathe KS. A hard drive crash lost the
seller's name from my bookmarks. Does...

Lawrance Radial engine for APU by
moffit
I have a Lawrance L-64 radial engine 5 cylinder that I believe was used as an APU in the B-29?? It has a tag attached that stated it was prepared for storage in 1948. (it is a little hard to read)
This link has a photo of a similar motor:

Bristol radial engines......cowling colour by
Rod
Most technical artists render the leading edge of wartime Bristol
radial engine cowlings a copper-bronze colour.
Several wartime colour photographs (of the Vickers Wellington etc)
show this same effect.
The 'Halifax' restoration/reproduction at the Yorkshire Air Museum has
it's Hercules engine...

Twin tail design (ercoupe, etc.) by
Patrick
I am looking for design criteria for twin tails vs. conventional. For
instance, what is the usual ratio of area for twin vertical fins vs. a
single one--1:1?
If anyone knows this ratio for the Ercoupe early models vs the M-10,
that might be helpful.
Any old aeronautical design books deal with...

I'm thinking of trying to sell a tailhook from a WW II era F-4U

suggestion where a good place to post would be? Obviously its a pretty
limited market but would like to see it so to someone who can really
use it. Thanks for your...

PA-22 Stabilizer Jackscrew question by
[email protected]
Folks -
I am in the midst of an annual on my 1953 TriPacer, and my
mechanic has a question I am unable to answer. The yoke shows about
3/32" of movement on the jackscrew. Is there a criterion for max play
in the stab adjustment system? If so, what is it? TIA!
