Don't park your glider in Jacksonville! by
Vaughn Simon
The below is stolen from a post on rec.aviation.homebuilt. I will soon be
illegal to park any aircraft in Jacksonville except in an enclosed building, and
it will be illegal to work on any aircraft in any residential area. Somebody in
power there hates aviation!

Query on the Woodstock by
Stealth Pilot
Australia determined way back when the glider first appeared that the
aft fuselage area had insufficient torsional strength and required
strengthening. ( I suspect that they were a bunch of *******)
looking through the articles that have appeared on the woodstock I see
that it has been flown with...

Soaring sites - N. Italy, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia. by
Roy Clark, B6
Late August-early September 2006, taking my wife on a secondo luna di
miele (second honeymoon - doing this about every 3 years seems to work
so I can go soar on weekends) into northern Italy (Lake Como,
Castelrotto), then to Hungary - my mother's grandparents emigrated in
the 1860's - (Budapest,...

Yet more thoughts on Sports/club class by
Bill Daniels
I susspect that anything as obvious as the following has been thought of and
rejected for equally obvious reasons that I'm also not aware of.
Anyway, here goes....
Why not adjust turn area tasks so that turn area diameters are porportional
to a competitors handicap - i.e. small diameter turn...

Radio problem by
keelstrake
Looking for some advice on my radio install, a Microair 760, Version M,
which was working fine.
I pulled my panel last week to install a clock I already owned.
Tried to be careful as I could, but.......
Now when someone transmits all I get is static (squelch like sound) in
the speaker and when I...

Region 9 Grand Canyon Flights by
Mike the Strike
A spectacular end to a week's fine soaring at the Region 9 contest in
Arizona saw over 20 gliders on a 500km task that took them up on the
high country with a final turn close to the south rim of the Grand
Canyon. It was my first trip so close to the canyon and what a
remarkable flight. Also note...

Concorde.... by
Derek Copeland
As I am English rather than French, I am not going
to defend President de Gaulle, who for years vetoed
the UK's applications to join the EEC, and who seemed
to hate the British and Americans for winning his country
back for him.
Compared with the proposed Boeing SST, Concord was
a relatively...

LX7007 log file problem by
[email protected]
The GPS traces in my log files have what I can only describe as
"position lock" in places where I circle. (See the log file referenced
below.) Examining the file contents shows the same latitude/longitude
repeating many times, updating once or twice, then repeating many times
again, until straight...

SNAV-LNAV low memory-battery voltage message? by
Steve Leonard
Did you check the contacts in the S-Nav? Maybe they
have some corrosion on them, causing the vario to see
lower backup battery voltage.

Military bailout bottle refill by
[email protected]
I have a military bailout bottle, and the bottle is empty. It appears
that the lanyard has been pulled. I do not know anything about these
bottles, but it looks like there is some sort of "valve" or a one use
plug in the hose that the lanyard actually breaks or ???? Are these
worth refilling,...
