Rigging grease recommendations for long-term-rigged gliders by Jim Hogue
So, I have been using white lithium grease for decades for all my glider fittings. This has worked out fine, no problems ever, all my fittings have stayed nice, with no damage of any kind. However, now that I have an 18 meter motorglider and am retired and blessed with time to go soar, my rigging...

Glider Service Novak by Charles Longley
I just did an Annual on one they just refinished. It’s absolutely gorgeous! Interior is like a Porsche. That Galgula guy did the interior. They skinned it with light weight fiberglass and painted it with PU. I am very impressed!

Which Cyclo Polisher Use? by John DeRosa OHM Ω http://aviation.derosaweb.net
I recently bought a used Cyclo polisher. I borrowed one last year and loved the results. The polisher came with the following foam pads; white, blue, green, orange and yellow pads (least to most aggressive). I used the least aggressive white pads last year and it seemed to do very well to put a...

Upgrading panel by Colten Coughlin
Hello! I am looking to upgrade the panel in my 1-26, I am mainly looking for a audio vario, and a flight computer. I have been recommended a 302 or lxnav Vario, and a oudie flight computer. I would possibly still be open to other options as well though. If you or someone you know has anything for...

Cirrus (open class) new Facebook page by Burt Compton - Marfa Gliders, west Texas
"Schempp-Hirth open class Cirrus" is a new Facebook group about the classic SH Cirrus (Open class 17.4 meter) sailplane. Many new photos, some of which I have contributed of the Open Cirrus (FC) that my father, Fritz Compton, imported in 1968 and flew at the 1969 ("Sun Ship Game") US Nationals at...

Shiny New Flight Computer by Gary Wayland
Why is a Shiny new Flight Computer always better than the shiny new flight computer I bought a few years ago? The clouds don't change, and the same guys at the top will always be at the top. As a teenager, my 1964 Chevy II always went faster, and I thought I would get hotter chicks just after I...

PU finish in wave flying by Eric
Can anyone tell from experience how well a PU finish holds when flying in wave conditions, i.e. low temperatures & strong turbulence? I'm considering to repaint my glider, remove old gelcoat apply T35 as filler polyurethane on top. Can I go wave-flying again with peace of mind? To what extent...

Best vario for airmass awareness across the speed range by Jim Hogue
Any suggestions? Either currently available or coming in the near future (next year or so) would be ok, I am not in a rush. Prefer it would fit in one 57mm hole. I take care of navigation and tasks with other standalone devices (full on OpenVario with its own vario/STF sensor board, and a Kobo...

We’ve had a particularly wet winter in the Pacific Northwest this year, and I got a chance to fly my motorglider today for the first time in over a month. Just prior to takeoff I noticed that my LXNAV S7 Vario had a small spot of visible condensation on the interior of the glass. I’ve noticed...
