Overhaul of 180HP Lycoming 0-360-A4M in a Skyhawk (C-172) by Andrew Gideon
I'm the "plane lt." for a skyhawk, based in northern NJ (KCDW), that's getting ready for its engine overhaul. What should we do with it? I'm curious what others have done, and how its worked for them. I've been doing some of reading of articles, but it's raised more questions than answers. ...

Overhaul time.... by A Lieberman
Well, decided to make that move. I managed to get 2040 hours out of my engine in my Sundowner, and now have another cylinder acting up (both plugs getting "wet") at slow idle. I just had a cylinder put in (ate an exhaust valve) last month, so instead of nickle and diming my expenses away in this...

The engine had a thorough top overhaul quite a few years ago, maybe around 1500 hours (new pistons etc) and has no problems...

Overlay/Panel Lighting? by Mike Spera
I have a 74 Cherokee 140 that does not have any panel lighting other than the red overhead. The 2 VOR/ILS indicators are internally lit as is the VC compass and clock. These are all running off the one lone factory dimmer. On full, the indicator lights will illuminate the cabin, so I run them...

Overly restrictive business flying requirements. by Wily Wapiti
Hello. I thought I'd bounce these off the group and see what people think. These are the UniRegs at the University of Wyoming for flying your own or rented plane on University business. I feel, as a low-time private pilot that they are overly restrictive, but I thought I'd see what the sage...

As a follow on to Jay's previous post, has anyone attempted an "easy" or "obvious" repair project, only to do something that really screwed up the job and made it more expensive or time consuming to recover?

Owner replacement of Nav/Comm Radios by endre
I am reading the FARs and am having a hard time figure out whether I can slide out my old radios and have them upgraded and put them back in. Slide in and out only no wiring or changing the shelf itself. Or do I need A&P inspection?
