Piper Archer II Air Leak Problem by Back Seat. by Roy N5804F
Piper Archer II PA28-181 Help please !! We have just replaced the cabin roof airduct in our 1977 Piper Archer II PA28-181. The duct feeds fresh air from the rear mounted blower to each of the 4 overhead air outlets. The air is controlled by a push & pull cable mounted in the duct. With the air...

Piper Arrow IV fuel pressure by MC
Does your fuel-pressure gauge fluctuate noticibly ? Mine vibrates at about a 3Hz rate between the middle and bottom of the green-band. Engine runs fine... Turning-on the electic pump reduces the amplitude of the swing and stablizes it at around mid gauge. Is this 'normal' ??

Piper Arrow Shoulder Belt Tensioner by John T[_8_]
My partner and I are having a discussion about how the original pilot's shoulder belt tensioner is supposed to work in our 1978 Arrow III. Currently, it always applies tension, which bothers him a bit during long flights. He thinks it should latch or ratchet so that once it finds a position,...

Piper Arrow vs Cessna 182 by [email protected]
I would like to know the advantages and disadvantages of these aircraft. They have aproximately the same performance with a significant difference in the fuel consumption. What about maintenance cost? Please post your comments.

Piper Autocontrol IIIB by PaulaJay1
Flew to dinner today with an outside temp of 10F. Auto pilot worked OK on the trip out (plane came out of a 45F hanger). Parked for dinner for about 2 hours. The autopilot didn't work on the way back. You could feel the clutch take hold but no corrective action to follow the bug. Simple roll...

Piper Aztec - Alternator Conversion by Dean
I have recently bought a 1960 Aztec with generators. Although these have been overhauled recently, i'd rather have alternators installed. I see InterAv have a generic kit. Has anyone installed this before? What is the time to install, and any issues with particular brand? Any feedback would be...

Piper Aztec - Purchase Advice by Bongo
I'm looking at purchasing an early (1960) Piper Aztec. I would like to know what should be checked and what the real gotchas are on this age of aircraft. Thanks, Dean

Piper Aztec F Model Dual Hydraulics(1976-1981) STC by Keith
I am interested in obtaining information about what is involved in placing a hydraulic pump on the right engine in a Piper Aztec F airplane that just has a single hydraulic pump on the left engine. Specifically, who makes the kit for this and what are the approximate hours needed to install . I...

Piper Cherokee RFI Capacitor by Nathan Young
Where is the RFI capacitor typically located in a 1971 Piper Cherokee 180? On the firewall? In the cabin? Next to the battery? Here's a link to the Cherokee electrical schematic. http://www.needlescentered.com/cherokee_electrical.htm Thanks, Nathan

Piper Cherokee wing root seals - just an fyi by Bob Noel
In the past I've seen people wondering why it was so hard to install new wing root seals on cherokees. Well, today my mechanic did the job in just about two hours. No doubt it helped that he's done it before. -- Bob Noel Looking for a sig the lawyers will hate

Piper Colt child seat STC by R. Wubben
I have been toying around with the idea of buying a Colt or a Tri-Pacer (having just foolishly sold my Ercoupe) and ran across an ad for a Colt with a child seat STC. I did a google search, a deja/google group search (on rec.aviation) and looked at the Short wing Piper web site and found nothing...

Piper Commanche vs Money 201 by O. Sami Saydjari
I am looking at buying one of two planes: a 1978 Mooney M20J or a 1965 Piper Commanche PA-24-260. I have test driven both and I like the handling of both. Both are about the same price. The avionics in the Mooney are slightly better. This is a tough choice. (1) Is there anyone out there that...

Piper door window STC worth it? by Ben Jackson
Great Lakes Aero offers plain replacement Piper door windows as well STCs for their "frameless" vent windows adapted to the door side. The cost is only a few Aviation Monetary Units more to get the vent, plus the additional install cost since you need an IA for the STC where you could just do the...

Piper doors, why the passenger side? by Nathan Young
First off, this isn't a post to argue the merits of one-door vs. two-doors, so if you want to do that, start your own thread... :) Why does Piper put the door of the plane on the passenger side? I cannot think of one good reason. Would like to hear the group's opinions. OTOH, I can think of...

Piper fuel valve PA24-250 salvage part wanted by bb
The valve is Piper # 492-068, made by HOOf under their # A73V. Or does anyone know if similar part HOOf A73W is compatible and can be field approved (possibly?) assuming one of those available. Original part is servicable in terms of selection but not in terms of correct gauge reading of...

Piper headliner (was: simple and cheap tricks for your plane) by Prime
We have a Cherokee 140. I want to know if anybody knows the simple and cheap trick to clean our headliner. It is actually in fine condition, but it has a LOT of brownish spotting on it, apparently caused by moisture (you know, condensation, leakage, etc. - not that OUR plane leaks!). It looks like...
