Blue Angels Show by
ramrod48
The Blue Angels are in St. Louis this weekend. Having seen several
shows in past years, I'm surprised that they've flown only the "low
show" here this year. Initially, I thought that perhaps the ceilings
were marginal, but yesterday's weather was perfect. The only reasons
I can think of: (a)...

ANTHRAX IN A CAN by
Cribsheet
ANTHRAX IN A CAN
When a lone terrorist can decimate a city with a Coke can full of anthrax
it’s time to rethink our policies. Over six million 40x8x8 foot containers
enter our ports annually and less than six percent are inspected. It only
takes one container to conceal weapons that could wipe...

Meting with a Lancaster rear gunner by
Dave Eadsforth
Greetings all,
I was lucky enough to meet an ex-RAF rear gunner last week. Couldn't
chat for long, but he shared a few memories with me, so I thought I'd
pass them on.
I suppose he was either lucky or skilled. He was a rear gunner between
1940 and 1946, first Wellingtons, then Lancs, and...

Weather vs. Combat by
Gordon
How accurate is that statement and
did weather also account for more losses than combat
in previous wars (e.g: WW2, Korea, etc?)
My specialty is WWII nightfighting and I can say that, particularly in the
first half of the war, as many a/c were lost or abandoned due to weather (or
collisions in...

Ditching Gear Down by

Question: You are forced to ditch in a a/c
with fixed landing gear. The sea is calm and
search and rescue are aware of your situation
and location. How do you put 'her' down?

Is this newsgroup dying? by
vzlion
If so it shioyld be changed to rec.politics. This is suppose to be
about aviation, not politics. If it's to survive it needs a monitor to
scan out tyhe non-aviation subjects. If I want to read about politics
I'll go to another newsdroup or watch the news or read the paper.

Apology to rec.aviation... by
Ron Parsons
Sometimes I forget that this is a rec.aviation group and not for pros
like AvSig on CompuServe used to be when it was sponsored by ASI and
John G. ran it.
Still there are some here who have been there and done that and care to
share with each other and others.
But there are also those who think...

When to start building the B3? by
Henry J. Cobb
There will be a B3 manned heavy bomber.
The mission is not going away.
The big question is will the United States be able to build a bomber
that is a big enough improvement on the B2 to justify the development
before we run out of heavy bombers?
I think the answer is yes.
