396 Magnet No More by
Jon Kraus
I guess Garmin really does listen to us.... Got our 396 yesterday...
What a sweet piece of equipment by the way... I thought I would remove
the magnets in the GX30 antenna so I wouldn't have to mess with the
Whiskey compass getting spatially disoriented... I found the
instructions for removing...

After years of looking, I recently obtained a pair of the old Piper
Cherokee logos from the center of the old style bow tie yokes. They
are in fine condition and really jazz up the cockpit
I am unsure of what to use to mount them in the semicircular recess in
the yoke. I would not want to use an...

Free Mooney Muffler to good home. by
Dico
Hello,
We just replaced our muffler on the Mooney M20E Super 21 (1966) and
have the old one sitting at welding shop. Turns out that the price for
a new one was comparable to getting the old one fixed.
If anyone thinks they can do something with the old muffler, they can
email me...

My Ercoupe is flyin' again... (long) by
Greg B
My annual inspection on the Ercoupe was due in June. What I usually do is
take the plane to the inspector late in the month and then he usually
signs/dates it the next month so I get close to 13 months between annuals.
So, I took my plane from Fairmont (FRM) to Jackson (MJQ) on June 30th...

Twin tachs by
Jim Burns
One of the tachs in our Aztec has been acting kind of flakey, usually
reading too high when above 2100 rpms, (I've checked it several times with
an optical tach) so I've been contemplating our options of replacing both
tachs with a single dual needle tach. This would open up some panel...

"We're with the FAA" by
Chad
I've read lots of stories about it and if finally happened to me, I had
my first ramp check. I flew into South Haven, MI (LWA) today to get
fuel, it's self serve, and as I was fueling two men wearing ID's around
their necks and holding clipboards approached my plane. I couldn't
read what their...

Mooney Rocket by
Al
Is anyone interested in a Mooney Rocket? A friend here has one up for sale,
$150,000(us). The 325hp TSIO 520 has 405 hours, the airframe about 7000.
Extra tanks, spoilers, GM530 etc. I do believe it has a minor damage
history, gear up landings. (Yes, plural)

New GNS 530 getting very hot - Is this normal ? by
Roy N5804F
We just had a complete refit of our Piper Archers avionic stack and
collected it from the avionic installers.
We had a two hour flight back to our base and the new equipment performed
very well.
The only issue, is that the 530 got really hot and I wondered what
experience others have the GNS530...

TIS (traffic information service) by
[email protected]
We have had TIS in three of the planes in our partnership for a while
now. I consider it a safety of flight issue. When it is working the
number of unseen planes around you it displays is amazing. I really
don't want to fly without it at this point. Unfortunately is seems
that the data is not...

Skytec starters for 0-470s??? by
Guy Byars
I am considering upgrading the starter in my 182P Skylane with the new
Sky-Tec flyweight starter. It looks like it will spin the prop faster -w-
less power.
Does anyone have experience with the Sky-Tec flyweight starter in an O-470
engine?

Beech duchess comments? by
[email protected]
I've contemplating buying my first plane.
C182 is almost perfect for what Iwant to do with the plane.
alas the last few flights have had some significant overwater legs.
CRQ-AVX-SBA
I also want to be able to comfortably return home after dark.
Thus I was thinking about a light twin, something...

Best propeller shops by
George Sconyers
My Hartzell 3-blade propeller (way less than 2400 TBO hours, but at 6 years
since new) is due for overhaul and I am looking for the names of propeller
shops that owners on this group have found to be the best they have dealt
with in the past. Those closest to St. Louis, MO are preferred. ...

Current state of Seaplane fuel by
Robert M. Gary
I'm curious what the current state of sea plane fuel is. When I started
flying sea planes cross countries were planned to docs where boat fuel
was available and most all seaplanes had mogas STCs. Since avgas is so
rare on the water and seaplanes have such short legs what are people
doing today with...
