How about 2-stroke diesel for helicopters by Max Kallio
I'm really interested in these new ZOCHE aero-diesels www.zoche.de. They are air cooled, piston ported, radial configuration, turbo- and supercharged, high pressure direct injection 2-stroke diesels. The 70hp weighs 55kg (121lbs) and uses 10.1L (2.68gal) per hour @75%. The TBO is expected to be...

4 types in 2 days by B4RT
I got the excellent opportunity to fly an EC120, AS350, Jet Ranger, and 407 all within a two day span. And the winner is: The Bell 407. There are features I really like about the Eurocopters like their cabin layout, comfy seats, excellent maintenance access, and baggage storage areas. However,...

X-Wings and Canard Rotor Wings. by Charles Gray
Two questions. 1. What ever became of the X-wing stopped rotor concept? It seemed to be a big thing in the 1980's but just went away. Is anyone still working on it? 2. IN a similar Vein, did the Canard Rotor Wing X-50 Dragonfly ever recover from its accident? Thanks!

Why are so few gyrocopters developed? by Joachim Colling
To me the gyrocopter principle seems to be much cheaper (and safer?) than the heliocopter. Why has development of medium and larger size gyrocopters stopped? And smaller are also very few? Joachim Colling www.collings-system.se

UH-1 Tailpipe by Brien
I have a UH-1 tailpipe with cooling fins and looks like a heat exchanger and a line for fuel. Was this used to reduce the heat signature and risk of heat seeking missile attack.

Tilt rotors vs. helicopters-- manueverability in VT mode. by Charles Gray
Just a question-- how does the X-15 or the V-22 compare to a real helicopter when hovering? Can they do helicopter style manuvers, or are we talking more just up and over on the way to horizontal flight?
