Would like to fly in early, see the sights, then fly out late that night.

Over on the rec.aviation.military forum a discussion got
around to the doppler effect and/or helo rotor blades, and
the following exchange took place:

Quick Response Ambulance by
Ralph @ G-Squadron
Anyone think the idea of using an autogyro as a quick-response ambulance
service is good? Wouldn't actually transport patients, but would act like
the quick response car or bike, delivering emergency help, and looking after
patients until land ambulance arrives.
I'm going to see how far I can...

Well now your talking like a true pilot.
The glow or eager anticipation is starting to wear off.
Your no longer satisfied to enjoy the beauty of the surroundings
anymore for hours on end as you wait patiently...

Don't know how many of you caught the story out in California about

Seems Tommy wanted to go to a rock concert being held...

Question for the Turbine pilots. by
601XL Builder
We have a doctor who just bought a 206 and after less than a month the
chopper has been sent for a new engine. I heard he had a "Hot Start" and
burned out the engine.
While I'm both fixed wing and helicopter certified I have zero
experience with jets so what did he do? And what's it gonna cost him?

Plans for Gyrobee and Bumble Bee by
[email protected]
Folks,
I've been cleaning out my ultralight construction area and have found
some old, unused plans for both the Gyrobee and the Bumble Bee. Anybody
need these for about $50 plus a few $$s for shipping?

"Interesting" NY Times Article by
Steve R.
That's an interesting one. Thanks for sharing.
I'm curious why they can't account for the hours flown. The article
indicates that they don't have data on past hours flown so they can't
speculate whether or not the increase in accidents has anything to do with
an increased number of hours flown...

Flying backwards causes gyrations? by
John Doe
I recall hearing mention of something like this before. While doing a
simulation, probably moving backwards, the helicopter tale began
swaying back and forth uncontrollably.
Is that the way it is in real life?
How do you get out of that? Avoid moving backwards?
Besides trying to tilt the chopper...

Groen Bros. by

Hi. I have been lurking lately. I have an interest in Gyroplanes (not enough
money for helicopters). Does anyone have any comments about the new gyro kit
that the groen bros are introducing, or is it to early to tell much. Thanks
for any info.

Marine 1 by
John Noble
Was watching "West Wing" on TV (love that show), and in one scene they
swooped in with Marine 1 (POTUS onboard) in a pretty aggresive approach.
Seemed pretty cool flying, with a tight LZ; trees, buncha cars and such all
around (yeah, TV- I know).
But it made me wonder; just how agile is that...
