PIREP: AirMap 1000 (Long) by Mike 'Flyin'8'
As mentioned in an earlier thread, I would provide a PIREP with my initial thought on my new addition. 1- "Wow, that is a big box." The company I purchased the unit from packaged it exceptionally well. The box was larger than I was expecting. This was due to the peanuts in the box. 2 - "What...

Whee-hoo, we made it to Deland, Flori-duh in just 6.3 flight hours last Sunday, with a fuel stop in Tennessee! Nothing like CAVU and a nice tailwind to make for an enjoyable flight. When we left Iowa the temperature was a chilly 14 degrees... When we landed in Florida, it was 80. Sure felt...

Speed of Heat by vlado
Is there a rule of thumb for 'speed of heat'? Meaning the speed in knots where ice will not form on the leading edges of a wing. For example, the Saberliner had no de-ice or anti-ice system, just speeding up would remove or prevent ice build up. Thanks.

The AOPA online guide and Airnav only give 121.3. Sectionals and LA TAC shows 121.3 from N and 132.7/124.1 (4000&below/above) from...

Has anyone seen a G-1000 out of the box prior to installation? What are the full dimensions? How much space is there between the firewall and the rear of the G-1000? Why?
