Adverse Yaw by
Mike
In the July issue of Soaring a letter writer contends that, during a
steep stationary turn, the outside wing creates less drag than the
inside and adverse yaw is caused by: 1)The inside wing flying at a
greater angle of attack than the outside wing, therefore creating more
drag on the inside wing...

Advertising for tow pilots by
[email protected]
like many clubs, we have troubles finding enough tow pilots. We have a Pawnee tow plane so we need to find the ever fewer pilots that are tailwheel qualified, and meet the insurance minimums. The other big issue is finding the candidate pilots that are qualified and interested in spending their...

Advice for / stories about Commercial practical test? by
Roger Worden[_2_]
If all goes well, I'll be taking my practical test for the Commercial
certificate in just a few weeks. Any Commercial glider pilots have any
words of wisdom for the test? Anything that your examiner had you do
that was a surprise or harder than you expected? Any relevant (or
irrelevant but...

Advice for a New Pilot? by
Ryan Spicer
Hi all,
I've seen a lot of interesting discussion on this group
improving skills and safety, so I thought I'd ask this he I'm
currently training for my private pilot glider ticket, starting from
zero. I have about 12hrs in my logbook over 43 flights, about a third
of which are solo. I did...

Advice for new CFIGs by
[email protected]
A year ago I decided I was going to give something back to my club by becoming a CFIG. I was hoping that I might find several other club members who would take this journey together with me, but now, ready for my checkride, I am the only candidate. Why do so few people seem to want to do this? The...

Advice needed- 1-34 tow hook replacement by
Kurt
A friend of mine has a 1-34 and he needs to replace the tow hook and
release arm. Question is...how? The floor is riveted in place and
access is just about impossible. There is a very small access hole in
the floorboard, but all it lets you do is see the nut on the bolt.
HELP!
Thanks
Kurt

Advice on motor glider wanted - FES - Jet - Engine by
J W
Seeking advice for a cheapish motor glider but a good investment is
more important.
Was considering the newer types like the 13.5 metre Mini LAK, Silent 2
and HPH Shark.
Concerned that there are very few registered and certified in the UK so
may not be a good investment?
Like the idea of...

Advice re. Nimbus 3 OR 4Dt? by
John McLaughlin
I'm just coming back into gliding after a long time grounded and I'm
looking to buy a glider over the winter. A two seater seems a nice idea and
the Nimbus seems to be a lot of glider for the money.
Are they in any way difficult or unpleasant to fly? I know there have been
structural failures...

Hello all,
I wonder if anyone can advise on a suitable source (prefferably
europe)and / or specifications for a replacement boom microphone for a
Dittel FSG 50 VHF radio.
The current one is bust and I can replace the mic only, or (ideally)
the whole flexible boom with something more petite and...

Advise wanted for maintaining gelcoat that is already FUBAR by
PBA
Thanks for taking a look.
Pictures are linked below.
The story goes this poor glider sat in a trailer for some years in Texas and it ate the otherwise bulletproof gelcoat.
Per usual the tops of the wings are the worst. Some of the sanding has gotten down to the gray layer that covers the...
