Interesting tidbit by Harry K
The test pilot of the first flight of Boeings new jet liner was the co- pilot of the restored Boeing Stratoline that ditched in Elliot bay due to lack of fuel. Guess one screwup doesn't shortstop a career. Harry K

The earth pulls down on the plane... by Alan Baker
....and the plane pulls up on the earth. The air pushes up on the plane and the plane pushes down on the air; essentially transferring the earth's continuous flow of downward momentum acting on the plane to a much greater mass of air. That air keeps that downward momentum, diffusing it through...

RV tools by rckchp
I have some slightly used RV tools (for any metal aircraft project for that matter) to dispose of, rivet gun, rivet squeezer, bucking bars, clecos, etc., etc......most of the stuff was acquired from Avery tools for an RV project that was sold off. I'm selling for 1/2 the price seen in the 2004...

NACA profile calculations by jan olieslagers[_2_]
I have got into plotting NACA profiles by computing. Humbly beginning with the simplest, which I presume to be NACA 4-digit, I found the Wikipedia page as a prime source of information. Plotting a symmetrical profile is not that hard: at regular intervals (=X along the chord), one calculates...

Keys to flying in ground effect: by durabol[_2_]
Keys to flying in ground effect: -want sensitive control so can react quickly to "squirelyness" -large stabilizer (perhaps a stabilator) and longish tail boom -optimized control surfaces for good control at low speed -best to fly only in low wind -long tow rope to avoid turbulence of or crashing...

Loose Wing Covering Possible? by durabol[_2_]
I was wondering it a loose fitting covering that becomes taut when flying might be possible. This would be for heavily "under chambered" airfoils, or is it better to glue or something onto the ribs. Has anyone heard of this before? Brock

Hi guys by David E. Powell
I've had interest in aviation for a number of years, my uncle was a pilot and co-owned a New Jersey civil aviation airport for a number of years. He had a neighbor for a number of years who not only had a barn full of ultra lights and other cool stuff but a grass strip. I currently have a friend...

FLYING VET to be IMPRISONED FOREVER by Charles Douglas Wehner
Those involved in agriculture will know the Flying Vet. He has covered vast distances by air to visit his "patients", and also as a hobby crossed oceans in flimsy canvas-winged planes to reach Australia and America. However, when he lived in Guernsey he discovered crimes and reported them. He was...
