Private Pilot without Medical -- Sport Pilot operation? by
Danny Deger
I am a private pilot without a current medical, but with a valid
drivers license. Can I fly under the sport pilot rules, or do I need
to apply for a sport pilot certificate? I have never been denied a
medical.

BillC85
Good day,

Cleveland Air Show.. what if... by
Dave S
What if the FAA was actually on our side with regards to the Cleveland
Air Show. Those of you not AOPA Members or AVWEB readers may be unaware
that the Cleveland Air Show is under direct threat because of the
"Stadium No Fly Zones" that were enacted into public Law. The airport
(or the airspace...

Trikes vs Fixed Wings U/L vs Gyros by
BARTFIO
Does anyone here have experience in all three of these type a/c? I would like
to know which of the 3 would handle cross winds best and which has a safer
overall
operational record. So far, I've read that the gyro is better with crosswinds
(ref Dr. Taggart) than even some factory fixed wings. I...

Personal VFR Minimums by
Neil Bratney
Hey all,
Thought I'd share a story of (unintentionally, of course) my first
flight where the weather made me feel a bit uneasy, and learned a good
lesson about why maintaining minimums are so important.
I'm a new pilot... got my PP-ASEL 5/25/04 with 48 hours. Now I have
about 70 with the...

Satellite photos by
Chris W
I have been looking at some satellite photos on the web and I got to
thinking, I wonder if they have ever snapped a photo just as an airplane
was flying by. Has anyone ever seen that in a satellite photo? Some of
them are pretty detailed and you could easily make out the bigger planes.

More Stupid Govenment Tricks by

Reading this article certainly made me appreciate the job our military
forces are doing in combat areas. It's sad to see how poorly prepared
our troops are when we send them into battle. It really pmo knowing that
the same politicians that are talking about the support they are giving
the troops...

3V5 Ft. Collins Downtown potentially closing by
Louis L. Perley III
I myself haven't used the airport much, but it sure was nice to do some
practice on the relatively small runway, at least compared to what I was
used to at KBJC and KFNL at the time. It's a nice little airport, and in the
summer, with taller buildings on either end of the runway, makes for...

ATC: Knots vs. Mach? by
AES/newspost
Listening to audio channel 9 on United, at higher altitudes and during
cruise I hear ATC say things like "What's your mach?" and "Maintain
mach 77" and at lower altitudes and during approaches "slow to 180" or
"maintain 250 for spacing".
I appreciate that these are occurring in quite different...

Pre-buy Inspection by
Jon Kraus
My new partner and I are looking at a 1975 Mooney M20C. It is a nicely
upgraded IFR plane with a 400 hour O-360 engine. It is a rather high
time airplane (7000) hours and the price reflects this fact. It is being
sold by the owner of the FBO we fly out of for one of his friends. They
just finished...
