MSDOS FS 5.1 runnable under Windows 2000/XP? by
Bill Wolff
Feeling nostalgic... I installed FS 3, 5.1, and 98 again. I also have FS2, but that one I have only runs on a Commodore 64/128. And
my FS3 came on a single 720KB floppy. And boy is the detail in this version very barren! About only 8 buildings around Meigs
Downtown Chicago). Grant Park is just a...

Difference Between FS2002 Pro vs. the Standard Versions? by
Bill Wolff
I forget what the real difference between FS2002 Pro vs. the Standard
version. I tried searching on the web under Google and I can't find
anything. And was FS2002 the only version that was sold in both
versions?

Falcon 4 internet connection problem by
Binky
A friend and I are having difficulty connecting to each other in multiplayer
in Falcon 4.
We both have the same build of the software (unpatched).
He is connected to the internet directly, I am trying to connect using a
gateway connection and a direct connection with no luck.
Both of us are...

KLN-90 GPS and FS '02 by
[email protected]
Pete Dowson wrote a utility called GPSOUT that sends Flight Simulator
coordinates out to the host PC's serial port in NMEA/etc. format. I
have gotten Jeppesen Flite Deck to work on a 2nd PC, with GPSOUT running
on the FS PC and with the two computers' being connected with a null
modem cable. It...

link: PIREP on X-Plane 7.x by a Real Pilot by
[email protected]
I came across a "flight test" of X-Plane v7 today, embedded in an
overall review of the simulator. This test was performed and written up
by a real-world pilot... You might find some interesting things in there
in terms of how X-Plane does and does not model real-world aviating.
Here is the flight...

A Question For Real Airline Pilots by
Blue
I have a question that can only possibly be answered by real airline pilots
and pilots of the heavy oil-burners at that. Even they may not know - or
want to tell the answer.
I have heard that most if not all of the heavies now flying have special
equipment in them to thwart hijacking. The...

I get the message:
"Error 1722

the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or

MSFS4K future by
Blue
Does anyone know if Microsoft is still actively working on their flight
simulator or is it really "as good as it gets"?
My guess for a next version would be on-line scenery over a broadband link

That damn rudder by
Blue
On FS2K2 I have installed two controls:
(1) MS Sidewinder Precision Pro (USB) joystick and,
(2) CA Pro Pedals (USB).
Rudder control with these two beasts fighting each other has been my main
dissatisfaction with the simulator.
What I want to do is to completely disable the twist control of the...

Portable towers in FS2K4? by
Blue
The older FS's has the ability of "planting" a tower wherever one wanted to.
That way you could fly from the ground like model airplaners do. Of course
you can still do it at an airport but portablilty would be nice. Anyone
know if this is still possible?

display question by
Blue
I'm considering a new laptop with a 15.4" wxga+ 1280x800
pixel display to replace my current 1024x768 lcd display.
Wondering what that wil do for/to FS2004 play.

Radeon Graphic drivers for laptops by
Blue
I'm looking at two laptops. One for $1000 has a Radeon IGP 320M with 64 MB and the other for 1300 has a Radeon AGP 345 with 64 MB. Probably both borrow memory from RAM.
Does anyone know the relative merits of these graphic drivers for FS2004?
Does non-dedicated memory drag down performance...

Matrox by
boB
Thanks all for the advice. I'll look into the Matrox web site. I have
been doing some experimenting with using my 2 monitors as a flight
screen. If I use the 19" for the fwd view with an undocked window
showing fwd/left view on the left monitor it does give an acceptable
view out the left side....
