Cheap aircraft covering materials by
[email protected]
Awhile back, several group members were experimenting with cheaper ways
to cover a fabric-covered aircraft. I am currently constructing one
such aircraft, a Wag-A-Bond and want to cover it with something
affordable. Anyone have some ideas?

"scratchy" radio transmission; update by
[email protected]
While it was a busy day on the airways (radio wise) I had the same
result; ATC said scratchy but readable at 15 miles. Tried twisting my
arm around the back of the seat to use the rear PTT but it was too
painful while wating for the frequency to open up. I did try calling up
another aircraft at an...

alternate engine in Falco by
Jonny[_2_]
There are many aircraft that allow for a variety of engines. Some
engine makers even supply cowling/nose bowl kits for popular types
(Rans, Vans) etc.
So, what do you think of using a Jabiru 5100 (8 cyl) in a Falco in
place of the Lycoming io-360?
Jabiru is narrower and less tall, but is a few...

Lazair II by
Tony W
Anybody here have any experience with this little plane? I know it was
originally sold as a kit but the company is gone. Are plans available?
Is it worth trying to build one or are there better options these days?

Lathe Help by
Bruce A. Frank
I have come by a lathe that has some electrical problems. The unit has a
2 hp 3 phase 220 volt motor. One of the magnetic relays was burned out
when I got the lathe. I replaces the relay, turned the switch on and the
brand new relay burned up also. Though the lathe came with most of the
tooling...

Anybody got a real good reason not to use:
FRS Channel 3 (no PL) for around the field (we found it to be the least crowded
of the channels last year, but if I catch one more kid screaming obscenities
into their little radios...).

Does it have to WHITE!!! by
firstflight
I have a composite kit aircraft, and it is time to paint! But I just hate
the idea of painting it WHITE (like most all the others). I understand that
HEAT is a big factor in this decision, and that white attracts the least
amount of heat which could disrupt the Epoxy over time. Since my plane...

most facile way to move heavy toolcase up/down stairs? by
Alan Horowitz
ET onboard a ship. Have decided after time to have own tools. Got
them packed into one of those larger wheel-around, pull-the-handle-out
check-in hard-shell Samsonites. Ends up being a bit heavy, cause of
tool junkie genetic coding.
Works great..... except when have to go up or down...

Refinishing a Wood Prop by
Kyle Boatright
I've noticed that my prop is beginning to show signs of wear -chips in the
leading edge, and cracks in the clear finish. Given that I'm having shoulder
surgery in a couple of weeks (and probably won't be up to flying until the
arm is substantially healed), I should have some time on my hands to...
