Bob's Story (posted previously) by

Bob's Story
Paul, Bob and I were in a repple depple in the English midlands (Hanley, Stoke
on Trent) waiting to join the 344th as a replacement crew. We all roomed
together as pilots, copilots and bombardiers did.. One evening I entered the
room to find Bob sobbing and shaking, wracked with tears...

building reproduction aircraft by
mah
This thought was brought on by the thread on legality of owning
ex-military intercontinental aircraft. If someone had more money than
intelligence (the lottery jackpot is 150 million tonight) - what would
be the impact of making a B-36, B-47, or B-52 similar to the way the
Me-262's were reverse...

Matt Wiser
Which AV-8B units deployed to Kuwait for OIF? I have the Hasegawa Plus kit
in 1/72 and would like to know which squadrons deployed so I can either use
the kit decals or by aftermarket. TIA.

Crosshairs over the blue forces. by
Henry J. Cobb
Given the friendly fire incidents during OIF is it finally time to put
IFF in ground vehicles to prevent blue on blue engagements?
Make sure it's an automatic lock to prevent go pill powered trigger
fingers.

Q's: MiG-29, Su-27, R-73, & R-77 by
N-6
When did the MiG-29 receive capability to fire the vectored-thrust
R-73 off-boresight missles using helmet-mounted targeting? Did the
MiG-29 have R-73's and the helmet-mounted display/targeting system
since the beginning--that is, since the MiG-29A first became
operational in 1984 (or was it...

Helicopter Questions by
MCN
Hello,
I was reading that during the Vietnam War two helicopters were downed by
MiGs, one was a HB-53B which was downed by a MiG-21 on 28 Jan 1970, but I
can't find much info about the other. All I found so far was a "UH-1 during
1971" on the ACIG-site. Has somebody here more info?

JSF HWF or LWF by
John Cook
Hi All
I was just looking at the weight of the JSF, considering it was slated
to be around 25,000lbs it was considered a light weight fighter and a
suitable replacement for the F16, Hornet, something in the Corsair
A-7 mold.
Now it seems it firmly entered the Heavy weight division!.
The...

Aircraft Designations by
David Townend
The second printing of "Military Aircraft Designations and Systems" is still
available. We were out of print soon after our October 2002 printing so it
is good to have copies available again. We are also able to hold the
original price, too. Military Aircraft designations
catalogued from 1913 to...

Tradition. by
Grantland
Tradition
When evening falls upon the shore
You smell the salt, and hear the roar
Of surf that breaks in spumes against the reef.
The sun is low, the breeze is cool
The waters hiss, the seagulls call,
The sand is warm and gritty soft beneath your feet
You draw a breath, and close your eyes
And...

Not Often Told Story Dec 41 Pt2 by

"....Clark's air raid alarm had sounded at 9 a.m. causing the B-17s to
scramble for their own protection. However, it turned out to be a
diversionary attack on an Army installation north of Clark. After the "all
clear" sounded at 11a.m., the planes landed and were prepared for the
afternoon...

F/A 18 by
Richard
About 15 years ago I saw a RAAF F/A 18 perform at Ohakea in New Zealand.
After takeoff it flew out to sea. It returned from behind a hangar
travelling slowly down the runway on its tail. The hangar obscured our view
of the transition. It continued down the runway at perhaps 30 mph and 50
metres...
