Vertex 220 Headset Adapter to Helicopter Plug by malabo
Got a Vertex 220 and had to modify the headset adapter to a single helicopter plug. Attached is a drawing that you can probably use for any conversion of a airplane headset to helicopter. Colors used by Vertex in the wiring indicated. Surely after 100 years of aviation you fixed-wing guys can...

Looking for a good set of parasol plans by Mike Gaskins
I'm looking for a good set of parasol plans that would be reasonably easy to follow for a first time builder. I don't really care about speed or cross country capability - just something to putz around the pattern and sight-see. I'm thinking that tube and fabric would be my preferred materials...

1999 Arlington crash jury award by Kevin Davidson
This one really has me bothered: 1999 NWEAA Arlington Fly-in, pilot in RV-6 rushes departure at high angle of attack, crashes, dies in the ensuing fire. His survivors sue EAA and NWEAA claiming the fire crews didn't get there soon enough. The stated claims don't even agree with the NTSB...

Easy Eagle by Fonz
Has anyone built an Easy Eagle? Is there a version I and II? (What's the difference?) They claim a build of 400hrs and cost between 8-12K. Looks like a nice little single seater with reasonable range. Any in Australia? Thanks in advance. Rob Melbourne Australia.

substitute aluminum for 4130? by Robert Loer
Plans call for wing spar to fuselage carry through attach fiitings to be 7/8x1/8 4130 steel. Advisability of using 9/16x 3/16 6061-T6 aluminum as I have it on hand. Your thoughts please. I have plans for another ship which uses the 6061-T6. Thanks

Welding; How much undercut? by Fortunat1
Some of the welding manuals I have say that a certain amount of undercut is inevitable. Certainly in examining the fuselages of some factory aircraft I've seen some shockingly large errors like this in the finished welds. On many of my practice wleds, particularly on tubing clusters, an...

Just doodles... by cavelamb himself
Well, hello again. "That which doesn't kill me - has made a huge tactical mistake". Not up to 100%, but I'm still kicking and getting my strength back. Can't believe how long it has taken, but... No new tumors! :) Only problem now is boredom! A person can only watch TV for so long before his...

Jabiru by chuck
My challenger needs a new engine as the 503 has bit the dust. Have a line on a Jabiru 2200 at a reasonable price (cheap). Anybody done this before and are there any pitfalls? Thanks Chuck

Air Pressure Switch for Hour Meter by NEW-USER
Hello all, can somebody suggest a good place to get an air pressure switch to hook into the Pieto line of an aircraft which will then in turn operate the hourmeter when the aircraft is flying. I have a friend who has a really long taxi and warmup time and he tells me he is putting too many...

L-19 Birddog Avionics Parts - For Sale? by ContestID67
I am a member of a glider club that uses an L-19 Birddog for our tow plane. The airplane makes a great towplane and by removing the rear stick and turning the rear seat around, you can face backwards for the flight which is a real hoot. The airplane came to us after military use and had a full...

Newbie question about the spar and building by Randy
I'm very new to all this; isn't the spar on a Wittman Tailwind or Buttercup a solid piece of spruce with dimensions being something like 2 inches wide x 5 inches thick x 5 feet long. The Tailwind spar kit on the Aircraft Spruce Inc. web site doesn't list any piece of wood this big...see the link to...

intake air filter choices by Dick
After using a lawn tractors slightly oiled, green foam filter on my experimental with C-85, a fellow remarked that it was much too thick (about 1") as I replaced it. Just wondering what non-certified (read cheap G) alternatives that others are using. Seems like most guys use a pleated...

Can Washout Cause Flutter?? by DonMorrisey
A friend's homebuilt recently went down with an 8000 hour pilot at the controls. No one was hurt and the plane was landed in a field. The pilot reported hearing/feeling an extremely loud vibration from the wing, he immediately killed power and landed. One of the wings was visibly buckled. The...
