Bounty on AC 20-98 by Jon Woellhaf[_2_]
I have not been able to find through regular channels a copy of the old FAA Advisory Circular 20-98, titled (I believe) Auxiliary Two-Way Airborne Radio System Installations, dated 5/23/77. I will pay $50US to the first person who agrees to send me an original paper copy of this...

News server and software by Kobra[_6_]
Flyers, My ISP (comcast) just discontinued it's usenet service. How do most of you get on the newsgroups if your ISP does not provide newsgroup service? I am now in Google Groups using internet explorer. It's really clunky compared to using Outlook Express. The threads are not held together...

I DO use my own name and my real email address on the forums so if any of you computer gurus out here can trace this character down please...

The "darker side" of flying (Night Landings) with ATC COMS - Video by A Lieberma[_2_]
Needed to get night current for an IFR flight next week. Since I have not flown at night for quite some time, figure to give me an adjustment period as day transitions to night. Video includes slow flight while waiting for the sun to set, watching the sunset from 3000 feet and two landings at...

Cowl Mount Modification for Cessna 175A by Clay[_2_]
Is it possible and practical to eliminate the standard cowl mount brackets and attach the cowl to the fuselage with Cam Lock fasteners? I would like to consider the CAM LOCK 4000 series (stainless with phillips head) Is there an STC for this modification for a C-175A?

Night landings with ATC COMS - Video by A Lieberma[_2_]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DauqP-utcs Landings at HKS Jackson Hawkins field MS. Video hopefully gives a good perspective on why night flying is a whole experience on it's own. In cabin view included in video was my descent checklist into HKS. As always, camera is secondary and...

Recently out of the blue we got the following set of malfunctions in our GNS530 VOR does not receive but a separate DME unit which is coupled on the GNS530 does indicate correct DME. During testing we crosschecked the same VOR with the NAV2 box and it did function properly. VLOC mode does not...

Bendix Ignition Switch Rebuild by Mike Spera
I have had my TCM-Bendix 357210-1 ignition switch (1974 Piper Cherokee 140) apart twice in the last 14 years to clean up the contacts. I remember once seeing a rebuild kit consisting of the back plate and the 3 triangular pressed metal contacts. Might have been from an old Wag-Aero catalog. I...

Grandma's Cornbread Dressing and Giblet Gravy by tomcervo
Grandma's Cornbread Dressing and Giblet Gravy This old-fashioned cornbread dressing is flavorful, tender and moist. Not fancy, its ingredients are simple. Grandma didn't hold with the notion that the more stuff you put in cornbread dressing, the better it is. The heart of the dressing is the...

Replacing PA28 panel dimmer rheostat/position light switch by Mike Noel
Anyone here know how to access and replace/repair the panel dimmer rheostat in an Archer? It still controls the panel lights OK but does not switch on the position lights. My best guess is I'll either have to be a contortionist laying on my back under the instrument panel, or I may need to...

Cessna 172 fuel selector by Ross
I am in the throws of my annual on the aircraft. This year I have several things needing fixing and one is the leaky fuel selector. Well, let me tell you that is no easy job. I had to take a lot of the plane apart to get to it. What was Cessna thinking when they designed the placement of the...

Fundamentals of Stall Recovery by w3n-a
http://w3n-a.blogspot.com/2008/12/fundamentals-of-stall-recovery.html Stall accidents usually result from an inadvertent stall at a low altitude in which a recovery was not accomplished prior to contact with the surface. As a preventive measure, stalls should be practiced at an altitude which will...
