GPS Advise by
Sam D. Thomas
I just passed my check ride and earned my private ticket last week.
I'm now starting to do some extended cross country work and would like
some input as to GPS units. I have researched (3) units and would like
some "real-world" opinions as to features, usability and support.
Here are the units I'm...

GPS in overcast and mist by
William W. Plummer
My Garmin 12 is not able to get data from any satellites right now.
It's 2000 overcast, scattered 5 sm visibility. Normally the GPS works
very well in this area with reliable data from about 6 sats. I don't
think I want to be in a position where my handheld GPS is my only means
of nav.

GreatPlanesPilotSearch by
GreatPlanesPilotSearch
I am the researcher for the show "Great Planes" on the Military
Channel. I am currently in the process of finding pilots to interview
on camera in the locations we are filming.
For pilots in the Tucson, AZ area:
We’re looking for pilots who fly or have flown one of the following
aircraft: an...

Ground effect effectiveness by
Tony
I haven't found a decent reference for this -- can anyone help?
Consider a clean low speed airplane -- maybe one of the kit built ones.
Does anyone have some quantitative measure of how much drag is reduced
if the airplane is flown say half or quarter of a wingspan above the
ocean?
Would we be...

Grounded! by
brian whatcott
For those who managed to escape all notice that the paper FAA
certificates were being turned over to plastic cards, as publicized for
the last two years: your paper flying license is now kindling,
as from midnight last night!
Regards

Gulf Eagle sea motor hang-glider by
Josip
I'm considering to buy Gulf Eagle motor hang-glider.
I would appreciate if anyone can share their own experience with that
glider. Up to now all I have are infos from their web page
(www.polarismotor.com).
Is this the only one company on the world which produce that kind of
hang-glider?

Hand Held Tach by
Brian Whatcott
The radio modelers have developed a useful market for gadgets.
I bought a tach a while ago, and I keep meaning to mention it
here.
The price was right - around $25.
It's intended for measuring off two or three blade props.
In other words, it counts either two flashes or three as a...

Handheld battery question by
RobsSanta
My brain has totally gone blank for this simple question, I know I should
have paid more attention in school !!!.
I just was given a 12volt 1200mAh battery and a 200mh 3W wall charger by a
friend who is quitting flying. It has been that long since he used the
battery he doesn't remember charging...

Hangar Condensation problem by
Bruce Barnard
Hello,
I'm buying a box hangar 60x80 about 15 years old. It's wood frame with
metal siding and asphalt roof. Ceiling is also metal. Walls and ceiling are
insulated, but the 55 foot wide bi-fold door is not. There is some air
leakage around the door that I plan to fix.
Rumor around the...
