Perfect Proficiency Flight by
Jay Honeck
Mary and I have developed what we call our "Perfect Proficiency Flight," (or
"PPF") and I was wondering if anyone else has done the same?
You know what I mean. Maybe you haven't flown for a while, and you need to
get back up to speed, but the thought of working the pattern after all these
years...

Garmin 396 -- Maybe I spoke too soon... by
Jay Honeck
So I spent three hours playing with a friend's new Garmin 396 last night,
sitting in a lawn chair whilst supping a couple of cold ones, and watching
as Hutchison, Kansas got the crap beat out of it with thunderstorms and
tornados. *Live*, on the unit.
At Oshkosh, my playing time was extremely...

An opportunity for small airports/commuter airlines? by
Jay Honeck
http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20050826/ts_csm/aruralbus
With Greyhound abandoning hundreds of rural towns, perhaps there is an
opening for an affordable air taxi service? What percentage of people
who ride the bus would rather use an air taxi, if it were reasonably
priced?
Is it even possible to...

Right on, Bob. It has been said that the energy required to produce a

Need a help in helicopter crash accident (top urgent) by
[email protected]
Hi,
THIS IS TOP URGENT!..
I have a movie with a helicopter accident. The helicopter crew claims
that the
reason of the accident was a damage on the tail rotor blade. My brother
was a
copilot in crew of that helicopter and I don't have any reasons to
don't believe him and his colleagues. But...

"position & hold" going away by
Paul kgyy
I saw an announcement on Aeronews this morning that the FAA is
proposing that the "taxi into position and hold" process used at
virtually all towered airports be discontinued.
This is really gonna work great at places like Newark, LaGuardia, and
OHare.

OSH '05 Comments by

Another great OSH. The number and quality of the exhibits seems to
improve each year. I especially like the Miller Welding trailer. My
girlfriend even got to play with the plasma cutter, and she liked it
(maybe helping me justify a future purchase ;-)...
We met the MotoArt guys (from the now...

Annual Iowa City Fly-In Breakfast August 28 by
Jay Honeck
Our annual Sertoma (SERvice TO MAnkind) breakfast will be held here in
Iowa City on Sunday, August 28th.
They always lay out a good spread, and all proceeds go to benefit a
good cause.
This year they're adding a few ground displays -- an Air National Guard
Chinook, and an old C-47/DC-3 from World...

Ok, do I have to call Pat Robertson to find out what we did in Mobile
to attract three major hurricanes in two years? As far as I know, we
didn't have Gay Pride floats at Mardi Gras.
Oh, well; maybe I can get the line guys to...

Short sightseeing trips near KAPA - Denver? by

We finally made it to Denver after having to divert to Holyoke Muni
airport the day before to avoid severe thunderstorms. We plan to stay
until Monday. We would like some recommendations for short, 1 to 2hrs
sightseeing round trips from Centenial airport. Without oxygen and
with 180hp engine, we...

C172 Flaps up or 10 degrees for takeoff by
Michelle P
An interesting dilemma.
The manual for the 172 N tells you that 0-10 degrees is acceptable for
takeoff. However it does not tell you what affect it has at low altitude
300 feet MSL Density altitude around 2500 MSL. It only states that it
will have a detrimental affect at high altitude on a hot day....

Aviation Radio on Compact Flash Card? by

Does anyone make an aviation radio that would plug into a Windows PDA or
tablet as a compact flash card, joined with a bluetooth wireless aviation
antenna? I imagine you could do some really nice things with the
interface in software.

Oooops, new AOPA SUA website errors by

I just got my weekly dose of AOPA's E-Blurb. In it is an article about
AOPA's latest aid to navigation, a list of all SUAs and their current

Guys and Gals,
Getting all studied up to take my written, scoring 85's easily. Seems
most I miss are the chart questions. Mostly because the charts in this study

Ebay for new headsets?? by

I'm a Cessna 150 driver looking for a reasonably cheap ANR headset,
since my last one quit on approach at a controlled field :-( Where
should I buy such a thing? Has anyone tried E-bay, or am I stuck with
Sportys? Any advice at all?
