Ad question by
Steve Freeman
We are going to be selling our club Pawnee towplane soon and I wanted
to find out if it is acceptable to place a description, price and
contact info on this mail list. I am going to list it later on
Barnstormers etc. but wanted to give other clubs the first opportunity
as it is set up for towing...

Discus 2a cockpit size by
EdByars
Steve: I flew a Discus A for 4 or 5 seasons...several hundred
hours....many 4+ hr. flights in big crowded contests and one 1000K
flight of ~10 hrs. Then I was 6'-1/2". 175 lbs, average build. I used
a Softie 'Chute with one inch of Temper-Foam on seat pan for cushion.
Tight fit but comfortable...

Discus 2a cockpit size by
Stephen[_3_]
Who's the tallest person flying a discus 2a? Anyone over 6' tall
flying one? What's the comfort level for a 6 foot 1 inch person for
6+ hours?
Inquiring minds want to know. ....

Lark life extension by
lanebush
I am researching the IS28B2 Lark for our club. From what I can tell
these aircraft reach their life limit around 2014. Am I correct in
this deduction? The info is pretty scarce. In fact I can not find a
copy of EO-24 anywhere on the web. If this is true, is everyone
planning to convert to...

new tow plane/tow hitch by
jim
We want to install a tow hitch on a recently acquired Husky in
preparation for the contest season. Is a Tost hitch required or
preferred for SSA sanctioned events? Is the venerable Schweitzer
hitch still OK ? If so, for how long? Tost is the standard in
Europe. Is the US moving toward that...

Moose is Gone [NY/NJ/PA USA] by
Papa3
John R. "Moose" Gravle, towpilot extraordinaire, died peacefully on
Friday after a short period of declining health. Towpilot,
raconteur, curmudgeon, and good friend, he will be missed by pilots
throughout Region 2. At last count, he had well over 35,000 tows in
his logbook, and countless...

Trig TT21 transponder draws only 125 mA! by
Steve Koerner
I know that a number of folks have been waiting for hard data on the
current consumption of the new Trig transponder in actual operating
conditions.
I measured the current consumption today on an actual flight of 2
hours 52 minutes. The flight was in fairly congested airspace all
within 10 miles...

Has anyone used FLARM data to log tows? by
JS
Hello:
I realise there is no data in N. America yet, (put on a Jamaican
accent: "soon come, man!") but has anyone developed a logger which
uses FLARM data to generate a tow sheet for club or commercial glider
operations? One tech I knew was working on this a few years ago before
family...

difference between SZD-48-1 and SZD 48 by
John Gruber
Any Jantar experts out there?
What the difference between an SZD-48-1 and SZD? I don't really know
that much about these aircraft. At the moment I'm trying to help
resolve an issue with play in the ailerons on a glider that is suppost
to be an SZD-48-1. One of the control rods has a lot of wear...
