Hello all,
I am a retired airline pilot who is getting back into GA flying.
I intend to pursue a commercial add on this coming season assuming virus restrictions are lifted or changed.
Looking for an organized zoom/FaceTime type ground school geared towards people like me so I can hit the ground...

XC Soar quick setup for local flights by
JorEl
Hi everybody. I am testing the XCSoar program on a Kobo Mini. I ask for your help to know how to prepare some useful pages to navigate on local flights. My interest is to know at all times: Distance and course to the field. Altitude necessary to arrive. Should I schedule a task for this purpose? I...

FLARM Core boot time? by
AS
Hi all in Glider-Land!
Does anyone have a good number for how long it takes or the FLARM Core to boot up?
Background: I am trying to update my Butterfly 57mm round display to the latest revision. The instructions say to connect the USB stick with the update file to the FLARM port, push and hold the...

First Ridge Traverse - Wyoming Range, Wyoming by
Tim Taylor
Like first ascents in climbing, first ridge traverses in soaring can be challenging. We had the pleasure today to do a first traverse on the Wyoming Range in western Wyoming, just south of Jackson Hole. Many years ago I pioneered the ridge run on the Salt River Range, it took several years to...

Request for article by
Ian Glenn
Hi there,
I'm not a glider pilot but I am a PhD student in meteorology. I study how clouds form and it seems that the glider community has a lot of knowledge in that area.
There is one article in particular I am seeking that may be directly related to my research. I can't find it for free and I...

Has anyone here tried mounting a camera on the wing (or tail) of a glider?
If so, how did you do it?
All my pictures (from inside the cockpit) are pretty boring in comparison
with the pictures you see in glider...

New Winner by

Congratulations to Matt Seymour who won the Region 3 Sports Class.
This nice young man won flying his grandfather's KA-6E using just a map and a round "whiz wheel" glide computer.
This is what glider racing should be more about.
As Rick Walters said- It's not what you brung- It's how it's...

Seniors March 14th by
Gary Osoba
Very interesting to see Chip Garner in the 15m Duck Hawk winning the
day in what appears to be relatively weak conditions. Span-limited in
comparison to many of the ships with longer legs, he was nearly 10%
faster in raw speed than KS, who is leading in a Duo.

PIC logging question by
Roger Worden
Can you clarify for me the FAR definition of "pilot-in-command time" and
"flights as pilot in command" ?
Regarding the commercial pilot certificate with a glider rating,
61.129(f)(1) requires at least 100 flights in a glider as pilot in command.
Regarding logging pilot-in-command flight time,...

June 30, 2006 - Day 5
Greetings to all our loyal readers from beautiful downtown Ephrata,

barked, the gliders flew and the pilots were happy ... well, mostly
happy anyway.
