FS: Aircraft Instruments Parts Avionics Warbird Parts by Bill Berle
Friends, Aviators, Airplane Tinkerers... many of the treasures and parts I have been viciously hoarding in my hangar for some future project, are now listed on ebay for auction. So far there have been several bids and I may just be able to afford my hangar rent! To find the items I have listed...

Amphib: Coot vs Osprey II by Greg Milligan
I'm interested in a plans-built amphib, and the Coot and Osprey II have attracted my attention. Any thoughts/opinions about one vs the other? On a related issue, I have been underwhelmed by the useful loads of both aircraft...around 450 pounds, more or less. Is there any "conventional wisdom" out...

MoGas Long Term Test: 5000 gallons and counting... by Jay Honeck
Yesterday I noticed that we had pumped more than 5000 gallons of mogas through the Mighty Grape. This represents something like 60 complete fills (our plane has four gas tanks, totaling 84 gallons), and around 350 hours of flight time over the last 2.5 years. (See:...

Marine Radar in a plane? by Jay Honeck
Yesterday, as we were once again flying blindly toward unknown weather, Mary and I lamented the fact that we'll never have radar on board our Pathfinder. Too expensive to contemplate. Ditto with the "live uplink" stuff that's just coming on the market. So, I thought, why not adapt a marine radar...

Pressure Differential in heat Exchangers by Bruce A. Frank
Morgans wrote: Why not use a little electric fan to draw air past the radiator for extended ground operations, like cars do? It has been done. Bayard DuPont did it on the rear engine in his Defiant and it worked well. Others who tried it found problems with ram air in flight spinning the fans...

Sealant for polyethylene fuel tank? by Rob Turk
I'm looking for a sealant or kit to seal brass NPT inserts into a polyethylene tank. This is a Kitfox header tank that has developed a leak at one of the inserts. I'm probably going to use Mogas that has ethanol additives. Any hints, tips, thoughts? Thanks, Rob

Newbie Question, really: That first flight by Cecil Chapman
A question I've always wanted to ask homebuilders is based on how I can see one could go through the process of building through lots of hard work and dedication - but how do you get yourself to do that first flight? I would think a thousand questions would fill one's mind (ex: did I tighten...

Mazda single rotor weight? by [email protected]
Atkins lists the weight of their single rotor "industrial" version of the Mazda 13B at 80 lbs and their marine version at 130. I've got most of a 13B apart on the shop floor with the idea of building a truncated version for aviation use but I'd like to know if the weights are anywhere near real...

Lycoming 320 and EAA Light Sport Aircraft ? by Dave Jackson
The use of the Lycoming 320 engine is at or above the top end of the proposed EAA Light Sport Aircraft category (1,232 lbs max. GW). I assume that the EAA SportPilot/Light Sport Aircraft will be successful, and that it will cause a decrease in the production of slightly heavier aircraft. The...
