Off The Wall Questions!!!!!!!!!!!! by
COLIN LAMB
Hey, I was the kid that aksed questions in school that made the teacher
wonder if they were in the right class so here goes:
1. If I built a large domed building, could I fly my helicopter inside
without a helicopter license? I know there is some debate about needing a
pilot license if you do...

Anyone know a good way to make a belly baggage pod? by
Tedstriker
My Jurca Sirocco has so little baggage space, that it really needs
some extra room. I'd like to make a bomb-shaped belly pod, and have
seen some made on other homebuilts. I've heard of some of the Pitt's
S-1 guys welding two spinners together, back to back, but that doesn't
have the look I want....

Gliders at Oshkosh 2003 by
Apis Gliders
Rather than post my annual Oshkosh report directly to the news group I decided
to place it on my Apis web site. Not to get you to look at the site but because
there are pictures and hyperlinks this year and my limited time and computer
skills allow me to use this method without problem.

My First Homebuilt by
choptopjim
I bought a started Homebuilt project from a Guy who passed on before finishing the build. His work is Top Notch and I don't think I will have any trouble getting his work accepted when I have the EAA people inspect the project. I believe that getting someone to look things over now is the best way...

California Snow In June by
RST Engineering
Admittedly it was mostly hail, but there was some snow (sneaux for Darryl)
mixed in with it.

3 1/8 inch compass by
Steve Beaver
Anyone aware of a source for a 3 1/8 inch panel mount compass? This is for a
vintage restoration in which the usual 2 1/4 inch Airpath looks out of
place.
Thanks
Steve

automotive parts on airplane engines by
Wallace Berry
Automotive alternators are sometimes installed on certified airplanes.
Are automotive (or any other type) starters ever used on a certified
engine. For instance, is there a Delco automotive equivalent to the
starter on a C85?
Thanks,
Wallace

Drilling holes in steel tubing by
wright1902glider
Hello everyone,
I'm back in the shop again with a new problem. That is, how to drill
accurate holes on-center through steel tubing.
I need to attach 2 short lengths of 1/2" EMT tubing parallel to the top
tube of a bicycle frame, one on each side. The EMT tubes will extend
about 20" forward of...

K&N Performance Gold Oil Filter? by
MikeremlaP
Anyone tried a K&N oil filter on their Lycoming yet?
Was thumbing thru the latest Summit Racing catalog. Saw K&N oil filter on p
133, lower right. A lot of us are using K&N air filters already.
On the oil, they claim 10-micron filtration, which, according to Light Planes
Maintenance, is the...

Experimentals and flight training by
Chris Wells
I'm building a Hummelbird, and I was hoping to use it towards my private pilot's license, but I've heard that I can't use an experimental for flight training. I looked through my FARAIM '97 and I can't find anything to verify that. Has anything changed regarding this since then? Can someone point...

Jim Weir's CO detector design in June Kitplanes by
Michael
In Jim Weir's CO detector design in June Kitplanes there is an adjustment
for tempurature and altitude. Can anyone please explain how to use the
adjustment in the circuit, ie, how do you set the sensor initially on the
ground and how do you then adjust it for altitude and temperature changes?

TIG welding video? by
Russell Duffy
Greetings,
I've got a nice TIG machine, and everything I need to start using it. I've
been through the Miller CD of TIG basics, so I'm fairly familiar with the
process, and all the variables. What I really need now is a video, that
shows someone actually welding various bits of aluminum, and...

source for aluminum tubing with rounded corners? by
Kyler Laird
I've been ordering a bunch of round tubing from Aircraft Spruce
but the only square tubing they advertise has sharp corners. I
need some 1" square tubing with rounded corners. The specs.
are not critical beyond that; I'll try to work with what's
available.
Any pointers?
Thank you.

NACA duct ventrui by
Chris W
Here is why I was asking about the reverse NACA duct. I am thinking
that a simple venturi would be a great backup to an engine driven pump.
Naturally no one wants to add the drag that bolting a venturi tube on
the side of the plane would give. So I was trying to think of a way to
make it...
