CG Hook Location Computation by [email protected]
When the aircraft manf has not done the research or made any recommendations - how is the location for a CG hook computed? One example - the SGS 2-33 installations I have seen (not factory) seem to be far ahead of the actual CG. TNX Michael

Well, the Jonker's new baby has made a debut of note at Bloemfontein. Some say that this year's championships should be put in the legendary class - have a look at the results and judge for yourself. see: http://www.sssa.org.za

PIC logging question by Roger Worden
Can you clarify for me the FAR definition of "pilot-in-command time" and "flights as pilot in command" ? Regarding the commercial pilot certificate with a glider rating, 61.129(f)(1) requires at least 100 flights in a glider as pilot in command. Regarding logging pilot-in-command flight time,...

Some (most?) of you are in u.r.a.s as well so know about this. Anyway, I did an Excel spreadsheet that I use as a version of my flightlog that can add up - I can't! If anyone is interested I can email a stripped-out version along with a readme.txt.

Check out the results of this new High Performance Glider ( JS 1) by [email protected]
A very respectable start by any standards . After eight consecutive contest days the new South African built 18 m glider is only just out of first place in a field with many excellent established brand name sailplanes behind . Yesterday's task resulted in a flight of over 700km at very good...

Winch tension meters - sources? by [email protected]
Most of the tension indicators I have seen were some kind of home-brew. What have other operations obtained or created and with what components from where? Thank you. Michael

Soaring Chillies Calendars by Steve Leonard
Did anyone else in the US order one? I did, and it seems the postal service between here and there has eaten both shipments. The second set was shipped about a month ago, and still nothing. I have typically gotten things quicker than this, so I fear the second set has also been lost. Anyone...

DG-1000 Tail Battery Connector. Where to get one? by Jeremy Zawodny
The tail battery in the DG-1000 (and probably the 500/505) use a funky connector that's a bit smaller than a cigarette lighter plug. It snaps in place and holds on tight. Here are a few pics: http://flickr.com/photos/jzawodn/323962116/ http://flickr.com/photos/jzawodn/323961429/ Does anyone...

Sustainer engine ignition noise (Solo2350) by Per
Having a Solo 2350 on a Ventus 2cT, I've been annoyed that when it runs it constantly triggers the squelsh of the VHF-radio. (No, raising the trigger level doesn't do the trick) It is possible to use the radio with the squelsh turned off and using a headset. This makes the noiselevel even...
