Single engine CV trap by
Larry Cauble
Twin engine aircraft have been operating routinely from USN carriers for nearly sixty years now. The earliest to routinely operate was the AJ Savage, (which actually had three engines, of course), I guess. The F2H was in the Fleet about that time as well - 1950ish. (I figure the F7F doesn't count...

What type approach did Japanese pilots use for landing on carriers during
WWII? Have any other countries since WWII used other than paddles or mirror
type approaches? If so what was their technique?

This News Group by
Boomerang
I'm surely not the Senior Naval Aviator (remember that? "SNA"?) attending
to this News Group although I may be the among the oldest - first carrier
landing on March 17, 1954 - and I wonder, seriously, if the cross-posters
realize what a disservice (read pain-in-the-ass) they are to those of us...

A real Naval Aviation Question about A-4s by
[email protected]
I have been trying to find out how many hump=backed A-4Es there were?
So far with no results. Any one have an idea. If you check the books
about the A-4 there is a complete absence of info about how many A-4Es
were fitted with the Avionics hump. Being and old AK, at one time, I
would have thought...

Crash loads by
Chris
Does anyone know what specification the Navy uses to define proper
crash loading of structures in the cargo bay of the aircraft? I know
the numbers 16G's forward, 20G's down, etc., but I'm assuming this is
formally documented in a military or civilian standard. I'm not
having much luck finding it.

SB2U, why not a 3-bladed prop? by
Don McIntyre
I just got the Accurate Miniatures 1/48th scale SB2U-3 Vindicator the
other day and it got me to wondering about this question. Most USN
combat aircraft by this time had 3-bladed props, heck, even the F3F
biplane had a 3-blader. Considering the efficiency and performance
gains that could be...

Marine Corps Recruit Training by

Recruits that fail at boot camp have set themselves on a course of

I thought I was ready for boot camp. I took my enlistment into...
