Is there a problem with rah? by
Scott
For the past several days I have only been averaging about 1 to 5
messages per day. That's way down from normal! I mean, there are
usually that many from Juan alone...anybody else seeing this problem?

Continental O-200 ? by
Stealth Pilot
I noticed in another post that the Continental O-200 is back in new
manufacture again.
Are there any links to the price of the new engine and the
specification differences between the old O-200 that I fly with and
would like to replace and the new O-200 LSA engine?
I spent an hour probing the TCM...

sliding wings? by
[email protected]
when I look at my eyeglass case, I see two closely overlapping
wing-type shapes that are being pulled apart for opening.
why would it not be worthwhile to extend wings this way for landing and
departure?

Ultralight motors? by
Richard Lamb
I'm looking for a 35-50 hp 2 stroke suitable for a legal 103.7
ultralight. Anybody here know of a Rotax 477 or 503 - or a suitable
substitute that is not being used by some other fool?
Now I know that "friends don't let friends fly 2 strokes", but with
the (bleepin') catch-22 in the spot pilot...

Sport Pilot license by
keepitrunning
Has anyone come up with an estimated cost of a sport pilot license versus a
regular pilot's license. Then would it be reasonable to add the
requirements for a pilot's license later?
Any thoughts and comments are appreciated.

"...but I don't have a lathe." by
[email protected]
"...but I don't have a lathe."
Sound familiar? The truth is, you probably have any number of things
around your shop that can serve as a lathe.
In a lathe, the work rotates against the cutting tool. ( In a milling
machine, it's the cutting tool that rotates against the work.) The
main purpose...

Dimples On Model Aircraft Could Greatly Extend Range by
Bret Cahill
Have they tried dimples on radio controlled aircraft? The size and
speed could designed around the magic Reynolds number = 100,000 where
the coefficient of drag drops precipitously.
Dimpling could vastly extent the range of large and slow as well as
small and fast radio controlled aircraft.

Lathe, drillpress, milling machine available, but..... by
Michael Horowitz
The local EAA chapter has a lathe, drillpress, milling machine, etc
set up in the back of the chapter house. As far as I can tell, the
lathe hasn't been used in a while. When I asked, someone rightly
replied they were concerned someone might hurt themselves using the
lathe. Having had some training...

Flyboys Movie: the aircraft by
John Ousterhout
Robert Baslee's company - Airdrome Aeroplanes - makes kits (very good
ones IMO) for various WWI aircraft, including Nieuports and Fokkers.
http://www.airdromeaeroplanes.com/
Robert was contracted by the movie company to built two - later changed
to four - full-scale Nieuport 17 replicas. Robert...

Fuel Prices For The July Pilgrimage by
RST Engineering
I'd like a consensus opinion from the newsgroup denizens who use any of the
popular "fuel pricing" websites as to the one that they find the most
accurate. My personal favorite over the last few years has been Airnav, but
I'm willing to be persuaded that there is better.
Reason being, about...

questions on multi-wing planforms by

Firstly, I am new here although I've been reading for a few days. For
anyone with more knowledge than I, I keep considering building a small 4
wing aircraft. Not stacked, but two up front and two in the rear. I have
read frequently of problems supposedly resulting from interference of...

changing operating limitations by
pittss1c
Is it possible to change the operating limitations of your homebuilt
after it has been certified?
Let me take the more extreme case...
I was wondering, if one owned (or bought) an RV3, is it possible to
change the operating limitiations to have a red line of 120 knots, and a
maximum continous RPM...

Which plane for 5 small pax? by
Adam Aulick
I have the opposite problem from the usual "four seats doesn't
mean four pax" problem -- I'm looking for an aircraft with typical
four-place load (and price) to carry five small passengers and
minimal baggage. What aircraft are out there on the used market
(including hombuilts!) which can safely,...
