Service Ceiling L23 - Litigation by [email protected]
After reading the article I retrieved my copy of the L23 flight manual. Where does it say you can't fly it higher than 12,805 feet? There are VNE reductions calculated up to 35,000, but nowhere in it can I find a service ceiling limitation as the plaintiff seems to suggest there are. Did I miss...

Cloth tape aileron seals by Hartley Falbaum[_2_]
I just wanted to alert you to a problem we found with our K21. We have used Tesa cloth tape for aileron and elevator seals for over 20 years with no problem. Last winter I used cloth tape from Berry Plastics “Polyken”. The roll was from a trusted tried and true USA glider supply source, and...

(Or, maybe you just happen to know the month and year of the article?) I've now sorted thru lots of...

Tow rope thimbles by Bob Hills
What is the consensus of opinion of using steel thimbles on aero tow ropes? Currently we use some clear tubing in the loop to protect the rope from wear of the Tost tow ring. Not only does this allow the rope to bend sharply causing a weak point but it also seems to fill with dirt. This then...

FES underpowered for 18m ship? by Mana
I just had a chat with a fellow pilot whose friend sold his LAK 17b FES because he was disappointed by the ability of the FES to gain altitude. I've been flying with National 425s (had 2 over the last 30 years or so) and found them very comfortable. Someone recently mentioned to me that the National Flat is even better. Since I'm due for a new chute soon, thought I'd check. Does anyone have experience using one in a Schleicher...
