Tasks??? by
Jack
Ok, with all the discussion about Sports Class/Club Class, there are
many of us (possibly) that might start flying at regionals and possibly
the nationals. I haven't flown in competion since '91 and so much has
changed, that I don't follow the acronyms. Where can we go to
understand the rules and...

plausible one-design classes by
[email protected]
The old 1-26 sold in sufficient numbers to support a yearly one-design
contest, decades after production stopped. Are there any other glider
designs with fleets big enough for one-design contests?

Re Dyneema Launch failures by
Martin Roberts
We currently have 1 cable with Dyneema shock rope attached
to
semi rigid strop with weak link and 1 cable with a
more traditional
2/3rd in hemp rope, the hemp shock rope has more weight
and
makes cable drop clear quicker than the floaty Dyneema

it has been mentioned that we will return to...

to work with a mini in-ear headset and boom mic with a PTT button, like
this one, http://www.planetheadset.com/vertex-accessories.php#samurai

Frankfort, Sleeping Bear Dunes book? by
[email protected]
I was just over in the Frankfort, MI area and the Traverse City paper
was going to carry a story the day after we left about soaring in the
Sleeping Bear Dunes area. It also mentioned a book coming out about the
same topic.
Does anyone know anything about the name of the book or where one could

winter is hard. by
Bruce Greef
Just being provocative.
Although I was stuck in the back seat of the club trainers, the day was good
enough for serious cross country today.
Best thermal fo the day reached 6.5 on the 30 second averager (V1000M) - in a
Bergfalke III flown by a student! Not bad for the middle of winter.

5 ugly
The discussion on the SPORTS CLASS/CLUB CLASS has been interesting.
I know that the US team committee is currently looking into this very
subject and has a very interesting article written by Dan Cole
addressing the Sports Class going forward.
I have owned an LS1-f for two years, flown several...

James Romano
I am (was) the other owner of the Caproni that went
down at San Geronimo AirPark. I'd like to provide factual
information that may prevent some rumors that appear
to be floating around.
There were four of us that assembled the Caproni.
My partner in the aircraft, his business partner, and
my son....

Puchacz shock cord (bungee) failure by
[email protected]
This weekend one of the bungee cords that serves as the shock absorving
element of the main landing gear of our SZD 50 Puchacz was found to be
broken. The symptom was a weird noise coming out the main wheel area
while the plane was taxiing back for a relaunch. The plane had a
uneventful landing...

Looking for some advice on my radio install, a Microair 760, Version M,
which was working fine.
I pulled my panel last week to install a clock I already owned.
Tried to be careful as I could, but.......
Now when someone transmits all I get is static (squelch like sound) in
the speaker and when I...

As the glider operations still come under continued threat from the
idiots at the county. We need more support from visiting pilots.
It was bought to my attention by another pilot that since High country

Becker 3201 memory batteries by

Some time ago on RAS someone was mentioning problems and solution to
the memory batteries in the Becker 3201 radio. Can any one point me the
right direction? I have my radio out of the panel and this might be
excellent time for replacement. Thanks.

Military bailout bottle refill by
[email protected]
I have a military bailout bottle, and the bottle is empty. It appears
that the lanyard has been pulled. I do not know anything about these
bottles, but it looks like there is some sort of "valve" or a one use
plug in the hose that the lanyard actually breaks or ???? Are these
worth refilling,...
