Air Force wife, kids found dead
(EXCERPT) By Charlie Coon, Stars and Stripes European edition, Saturday, July 19, 2003 The wife and two daughters of a Ramstein Air Base noncommissioned officer were found dead Thursday along a forest road near Hauptstuhl, Germany, about 10 miles west of the base. Christine Staggs apparently killed the two girls and then herself, according to Wolfgang Schaefer, Landstuhl police chief. “That [theory is based on four letters that we found that are addressed to some of her relatives,” Schaefer said. “She [Staggs explains why and what.” Christine Staggs, 39, and her daughters Vivian Staggs, 12, and Savanna Kjonaas, 3, were discovered at 5:20 p.m. by two German policemen. The three were reported missing Monday night by the airman, a master sergeant whose name was not released. Schaefer declined to say how Staggs and her daughters died.
